Heavenly Mountain Resort will open the Heavenly Gondola for sightseeing and adventure activities for the Memorial Day weekend May 23 through May 26, 2008. With travel industry experts saying economic conditions and increasing fuel prices will impact vacation travel this Memorial Day, San Francisco Bay Area residents and Valley residents are lucky to have a world-class destination like Lake Tahoe within easy driving distance.

“Lake Tahoe is incredibly beautiful this time of year and just far enough away to really get that vacation feeling without spending your entire budget on travel,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of marketing. “The adventure provided by the Heavenly Gondola, the shopping and dining at the Heavenly Village, and the 24-hour nightlife at the casinos, makes the South Shore of Lake Tahoe a spectacular, exciting destination that just happens to be located in the Bay Area’s backyard.”

The Heavenly Gondola will operate Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for sightseeing. Café Blue on the Observation Deck will be open for drinks and light snacks from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.; as will the Adventure Peak BBQ and the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Gondola from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Click Here for the Adventure Peak Memorial Day Menu.

Following an epic season of snowfall, Heavenly is offering 2008-09 season passes for renewal or purchase at last year’s prices for a limited time only. Purchase the best season pass value at Lake Tahoe and receive year-round access to Tahoe’s biggest mountain, highest elevation, longest vertical drop, most breath-taking scenery, largest snowmaking and grooming operation, finest tree skiing and riding, and only zip line.

Buyers will be immediately rewarded with full summer access to Gondola sightseeing and $10 off the price of the Heavenly Flyer ZipRider. To make this offer more compelling, Heavenly is offering the 2008-09 Adult Heavenly Pass at last year’s price of $369.

Existing Heavenly season pass holders who renew their Adult Heavenly Pass prior to June 21 receive a $20 rebate, bringing the price down to $349. Renewing pass holders also receive a full summer of free Gondola sightseeing access with their 2007-08 Heavenly Pass when it is renewed before or during summer sightseeing season.

Thanks for helping us make 2007-08 a season to remember. We hope you were there when Olympic Express opened on December 23, or in late February when we opened the Heavenly Flyer, the longest zip line in the continental U.S. January was our snowiest month on record, and March and April were full of bluebird days. No matter what memories you made this season, we wanted to send you into summer with a personal greeting from some of our staff.

This season is in the books, but to stay “in the loop” about what’s going on this summer, including season pass deals and updates on construction, sign up for Heavenly eNews.

We hope you enjoyed the season as much as we did, and we hope to see you at Heavenly next season, making more turns and more memories.

Hey Everybody!

It’s your favorite PNut checking-in! It’s getting to be that sad time of year where several resorts have already closed and the rest are soon to follow! Luckily, Heavenly is still open on the Nevada side by the Gondola - I’m actually about to head over there right now! I can’t wait - Spring riding is some of my favorite because of the warm weather, sun, and soft snow!

I’ve been keeping myself pretty busy lately -

Two weekends ago on the 19th I went to UNR to do the Cricket Rail Jam Campus Tour. It was a really really fun event and I placed 1st in the contest… SOOOO stoked about that - Finals are in Portland on May 23rd so I’m going to head over to Portland next month for a ‘mini-vacation.’ Sal Rubio - our newest team member also rode in the contest and placed 3rd in the Men’s Snowboard Category - YEAH SAL! Killing it

This past weekend, on the 26th I went down to Mammoth for the Volcom PB&J Finals - again the weather was beautiful, the set-up was fun, and there were 254 riders… WOW! It’s the biggest turn-out I’ve ever seen. There was even OVER 50 GIRLS!!! I’m very very happy to say that I placed 4th out of the whole mix.

Now I’m just relaxing - yesterday team member Courtney and I rode bikes around town and laid out on the dock at Timbercover to get some sun & relax… it was so awesome! I’m going to get some more riding in - but it’s nice to enjoy the spring/summer activities too.

Thanks for a great season Heavenly! Can’t wait to do it all over again next year!!!

It is a great season at Heavenly, and another successful Gunbarrel 25 - thanks to all who participated - you keep me excited about skiing the first Saturday in April! I am still traveling and headed to Peru for a steep skiing expedition. I am attempting to climb and ski the northface of Ausangate (an over 20,000 foot peak in southern Peru) which is being documented by RSN on “Reel Thrills” for a show next winter. I will have a lot of stories to share upon my arrival back into the USA come June.
Talk to you then,

Hey Everybody, just checking in. I’m in Oceanside visiting my mom and surfing right now. Just wanted to let everyone know how my travels have been going this year. I struggled a bit earlier in the season but a couple weeks ago I made up for it by placing 3rd in the USSA Nationals Halfpipe in Park City, UT then I followed that up with a 1st place Skiercross finish at USASA Nationals in Copper Mountain, CO. Prior to that I placed 10th at Junior Olympics in Halfpipe which was somewhat disappointing but it got me to Nationals where I skied the best Halfpipe in my young career. Hopefully I can snag some finishes a little earlier next year, but I had an awesome season with relatively few injuries and I had a great time. Hope everybody reading this had as much fun this wonderful winter season as I did. See ya later.

Rock out to Jamie Janover & LYNX, Absynth, Ten Cent Lure, Moonshine String Posse, Moo-Got-2, Ancient I’s, Ladymoon, and Trevor Green (This year’s stage will be powered by biodiesel powered generators). Check out educational booths, conservation activities, and Washoe culture. Food and beverages will be available to purchase, and a special Kid’s Area with story time, face painting, hands-on activities, bouncy house and a push-pull-pedal eco-costume parade will delight the young ones. Admission is free.

Waste reduction will be emphasized through the Zero Waste program. Booth participants are requested to minimize discardable handouts and implement other forms of waste reduction. All food vendors will be using biodegradable take-out containers made of either paper or a high tech cornstarch-based plastic. Food and biodegradable waste will be collected and composted by Full Circle Compost in Minden, Nevada. Facts and figures on American waste will be placed throughout the Event.

Central to this year’s celebration is the Clothes Swap where you pay a one dollar admission to participate. Please bring clothes that are clean and in good condition with no stains or holes (please NO under garments i.e.: underwear, bras, bathing suits, etc…) and please NO shoes & socks. You will receive one ticket per piece of clothing you bring (ten tickets maximum per person). Clothes swappers will then get to choose one piece of clothing from the accumulated clothing, accompanied by a ticket. If you don’t see any clothes that you like right away, no problem – you can go enjoy the festivities and come back to swap later.

The Kids Push-Pull-Pedal Eco Parade will be returning this year. Grab your wagon, bike, scooter or cart; anything that rolls, but does not require a motor start. Decorate it with colors and funny shaped things; hook on a horn, bells or whistles and parade it around! Also, kids are urged to wear a wacky & wild eco-themed costume. Fun prizes will be awarded! Pedal lovers of all ages can delight in the excitement of the raffle with a Grand Prize Beach Cruiser!!!

Hope everyone is still shredding Heavenly. There’s not much time left in the season so make sure to get up and check out the High Roller Terrain Park, it’s still going off up there. The Heavenly TPC is doing a great job!
I hope to see you all up there this week.
Take care,

Well the snow is melting and I am bummed because my ski season is soon coming to an end. I’m content with how
the season went for me, and I’m almost ready for it to
come to an end. These past two month went very well
for me. I took first place at the Sierra @ Tahoe
Circuit Series Finals and the GTS Buckle Up for Big
Air comps in March, and recently received second place
and “best trick” at the Heavenly Jack Pot Rail Jam
Finals in the MontBleu parking lot.
I really liked the down-flat-down ledge on the
Oncourse Production’s trailer setup. I got down with
some 270s on that feature and some lipslide-switchup-to blind 270 out (some jibbytech skier trick). You all will be able to check out some of the footage from that comp on Heavenly TV soon.
Overall this past season was phenomenal for me
because the powder days were constant, I placed in
almost ever comp I entered in, and I had some of the
funnest days on skis with all of my friends. I definitely can’t complain.
Hope the rest of the season treats all you Heavenly
goers well! I’ll be sure to see most you out there the
rest of this month shredding the flawless corn snow
that Heavenly has going on.
Peace!
