Heavenly Takes Summer Sightseeing Experience To New Heights

Written Thursday, June 25th, 2009 by Russ

There’s a new family adventure for hikers and sightseers who visit Heavenly this summer! It’s called the Summit Ticket and it allows the holder to ride Tamarack Express the rest of the way to the summit for the 360-degree views of Lake Tahoe, the Desolation Wilderness and the Carson Valley.

For the explorers out there, we’ve also got the Summit Ticket Eco Walk, which takes a group of up to 15 guests on a 1.5-mile guided walk where a Heavenly Eco Ranger teaches participants about Lake Tahoe, its native plants, wildlife and people.

Last Chance to Purchase Heavenly Season Pass at 2007/08 Prices

Written Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 by AimiX

LAST CHANCE TO PURCHASE 2009/10 HEAVENLY SKI AND SNOWBOARD SEASON PASS AT TWO-YEAR ROLL-BACK PRICE

•$329 Early-Season Price ($170 Off Retail) Available through June 21, 2009
•A $49 Down Payment Locks in the Guaranteed Lowest Price ($329 for Adults, $149 for Children)
•Predicted El Nino Winter to Bring Best Snow Conditions in Five Years

With meteorologists predicting a return of the snowy, El Nino winter, this is the last chance to lock in Lake Tahoe’s best ski and snowboard value for the 2009/10 season: The Heavenly Pass.

Heavenly has rolled back prices for its 2009/10 ski and snowboard season passes to 2007/08 levels. The Adult Heavenly Pass – which grants access to Lake Tahoe’s biggest mountain, highest elevation, longest vertical drop, most breath-taking scenery, largest snowmaking and grooming operation, finest tree skiing, and only zip line – will be available through June 21, 2009 for renewal or purchase at $329 for an adult pass –a $170 savings off the retail price. Teen, child and senior pass pricing has also been rolled back.

“With only a week remaining for this unreal pass deal we encourage people to purchase their pass in full or at least hold the price with the $49 down option,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of marketing and sales. “Three hundred and twenty-nine dollars is an amazing value for the freedom to ski or ride one of North America’s premier mountain resorts whenever you’d like. And the benefits for early purchase are significant.”

The Heavenly Pass is valid all season long, seven days per week, with only nine holiday blackout dates. The Heavenly Pass also includes unlimited and unrestricted half-price lift tickets to any of the Vail Resorts’ four Colorado resorts: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. The Heavenly Pass is available in adult, teen, child and senior prices.

All Heavenly season pass holders receive numerous benefits:
•Skiing and riding seven days per week (with nine holiday blackout dates).
•Unlimited and unrestricted half-price tickets to any of Vail Resorts’ four Colorado resorts: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone (no blackout dates).
•Option to purchase four, single-day, $50 Buddy tickets for friends and family during the 2009/10 season (only available for pass purchases made on or before June 21, 2009).
•Option to purchase personal lift tickets on blackout dates for a $20 discount.
•Summer 2009 Gondola access (when paid in full).
•Exclusive pass holder e-mails offering savings on resort purchases, including Ski School, food & beverage, retail and more (e-mail address must be provided).
•A one-year subscription to both TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine and Skiing Magazine (only available for pass purchases made on or before June 21, 2009). Not applicable on the Heavenly Child Pass.

As if the benefits weren’t enough, forecasters are predicting a snow-filled winter. A press release issued by the Western Weather Group predicts an El Nino for the upcoming winter for Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. “After nearly four years of La Nina conditions,” the press release reads, “it appears the equatorial Pacific is transitioning into a prolonged, possibly moderately strong El Nino heading into late 2009 and early 2010.” Some of the weather models for next season show a strong El Nino; optimistic snow predictions and conditions are expected to be the best in five years. Now is the time to secure your powder lines for next season with a Heavenly Pass.

The $329 Heavenly Pass will only be available for one more week (through June 21, 2009). Heavenly offers a $49 down-payment option that will hold the $329 price until the balance is paid in full in September. Pass use, benefits and incentives will not be awarded until the pass is paid in full. The remainder of the pass price will be charged to the purchaser’s credit card on or around September 15, 2009.

As an extra incentive to buy early, pass purchasers receive full summer access to Gondola sightseeing and a $10 discount on Heavenly Flyer rides; those who purchase their pass on or before June 21, 2009 also receive a one-year subscription to both TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine and Skiing Magazine and four $50 buddy tickets for the 2009/10 season. These benefits can be held with the $49 down option.

Season passes can currently be purchased in-person at the two Heavenly season pass offices, located at the Gondola and California Lodge, by calling 1-800-HEAVENLY, or by visiting www.heavenlypass.com.

Blackout Dates for the Heavenly Passes:
Thanksgiving: Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, 2009
Holiday: Sunday, December 27 through Thursday, December 31, 2009
Presidents’ Weekend: Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14, 2010

Heavenly Opens for Summer Fun!

Written Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 by AimiX

Heavenly is taking the classic family summer vacation to new heights – 9,156 feet to be exact. The Heavenly Gondola opens for sightseeing and adventure activities – including the Heavenly Flyer zip line cable ride – for the summer months beginning Friday, June 12, 2009. The Heavenly Gondola is a must-do summer family attraction in Lake Tahoe, providing picture perfect views every family will want to share with friends and family.

The Heavenly Gondola will operate beginning June 12 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. for sightseeing.

Throughout the summer the Adventure Peak activities area will operate the Heavenly Flyer zip line ride, the Spider Climber and the multi-level climbing wall from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Three hiking trails will be open daily, weather permitting, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. A hiking map with trail length and difficulty can be picked-up on site.

Dining choices will include Café Blue, serving hot beverages, drinks and light snacks on the observation deck, the full-service Adventure Peak BBQ and the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Gondola; all open daily from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Heavenly Flyer ZipRider cable ride at Adventure Peak is the world’s most scenic adventure ride. At 3,300 feet long, it is the longest zip line in the continental U.S. Guests can soak in sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains while they zoom at speeds up to 50-miles-per-hour. The elevated zip line carries flyers a hundred feet above the ground on an 80-second heart-pounding ride from the Launch Pad at the top of Tamarack Express to the Landing Zone just beyond the Gondola station, a vertical drop of 525 feet (roughly the same height as the Space Needle).

The Heavenly Flyer will operate throughout the summer from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. with rides beginning on the half-hour and hour. Flyers must check in at Mission Control, located at the top of the Heavenly Gondola, at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled flight time. Tickets can be purchased in advance at 1-800-HEAVENLY, at the ticket windows at the base of the Gondola or the Adventure Peak Sales Booth located next to the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Gondola. Rides are $40 plus the cost of a Heavenly Gondola sightseeing ticket (adults $30).
