Glen Plake’s Holiday Vacation
Merry Christmas from the Plakes.
After a couple of great days on The Face, we had to head to Europe to a somewhat similar winter over here. No snow, but pretty good skiing regardless. While they don’t have the snow making systems we have at home, fortunantely Chamonix does have the altitude. Did some ski touring today from the highest lift and found some great snow, but as we got closer to the valley skis were off and we were walking. Web cams look like it’s a great Christmas day at home. It is always nice to ski on Christmas. Hope everyone got what they wanted….

Glen, I am getting married March 31’st @ 4pm at Harvey’s casino. You and the Wife are officially invited — I don’t have your address though
Also, there is no dress code!
Stop by and say hi to some Midwest fans from way, way back!

Glen, I was getting ready to plan a little 5 day vacation in Feburary. Are you going to be at heavenly during that time period? If so I would love to rip with you for a day. I have grown up watching you on videos and would love to rip a couple of lines with you on the mountain. I will be there with my gal and she is still learning, so I won’t have anyone to shred with on the gnarly stuff. Just hoping you could take a minute out of your day to rip with me!

Glen,
Enjoy Chamonix. My wife lived out there for some time years ago and still communicates with all the friends she made there. My two boys aged 7 and 12 are anxious to return to Heavenly again for our eighth year. Your picture decorates their bedroom wall and they hope to see you ski again. I finally retired my straight skis for some new shape skis and I look forward to a new Heavenly ski experience.
All the best,
Jim Zock and family

Glen, very glad to find your post. Your turns in the Greg Stump films are legendary. How was Heavenly? I’m heading there mid-January.

Hey Kim and Glen, hope old Chamonix is living up to its rep for you guys. Just thought I’d let yall know we had the best day on the face this year yesterday, Dec. 27. We got just enough to make it a rippin’ day, full on face shots turnin’ to pow bumps. Anyway, hope all is well. See you guy’s when you get back.

Hey Glen!!!
How would you like to perform a wedding ceremony for some local people having a wedding on the mountain this summer? They are local and mentioned how cool it would be to have you do the ceremony, thought it couldnt hurt to ask. Im doing their flowers and said I’d try.
Billy wants to know if you remember Rock-n-Bowl in Orange County, you were still in your cast from broken femur…..Pink Flamingo rocks!!!!
Let us know!
Our best to Kimberly…!

Hey guys thanks for the posts … here are some responses …
1. Mike, I am in town that day – March 31, you never know – CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Last year you and your new bride could have skied the Gunbarrel 25/50 with the wedding party, but this year 07 it’s on April 07!
Good luck,
Glen
2. Brett, I am out of town the whole month of February. Have a great time, hope you get lots of snow, catch you next time.
Glen
3. Zock Family, Hope you have a great trip, I skiied the Aguille Du Midi today. I’ll buy a bagette in your behalf! Chamonix hasn’t changed much – although a large piece of Le Dru fell off a few years ago and the rock is gray now. Say Hi to the boys – Ski you next time, Glen
4.David, Man made base is insane – and natural snow has been helping, still waiting for the big one. Glen
5.Hi Bellik’s and Face Rats, Chamonix is as big and as bad as it ever has been, the Aguille arete doesn’t have safety ropes so you traverse the North Face every run. It’s pretty cool, my last run at home was on the face that real snowy day – you know how much I enjoy those days you just described. Ski you soon,
Glen and Kimberly
6. Zach, It’s real and you use hot water and Knox gelatin – Glen
7. HI Tina and Billy, Thank you for the offer, but the wedding was a one day deal – not really a reverend yet – Billy – thanks for the Maltese memories, I actully drove by the bowling alley a few years ago by accident and went “whoa” I have been there…. Long time but not a lifetime ago, I still think only 7 people would show up today….. ski you soon, Glen and Kimberly

Glen,
How about showing up in Lake Placid this season and ripping with my son Mungo at Whiteface. He is leaving the old spunker (me) in the dust and would love to let it rip with a legend. Plenty of vertical and folks to party with. Let us know when you can make it! See you there.
