Tahoe Late Summer Hikes

If you want to go for a hike in Tahoe, just walk outside and you are probably within a mile or two of a hiking trail. Here are a few suggestions of hikes around the south shore. Enjoy!

Cave Rock

Are you looking for a short hike with spectacular views? Then Cave Rock is the place for you.  In just 15 minutes you will feel like you are on top of the world with ridiculous views of Lake Tahoe. Parking is just prior to tunnel on Hwy 50.

Cascade Falls

Cascade falls provides a slightly more challenging 2 mile round trip hike.  After a one mile hike in, you will be rewarded with an up close and personal view of the falls. The Bay View trailhead can be found about one mile before Emerald Bay.

If you are staying near the casinos in South Lake, you can walk to Van Sickle state park and take off into the trees to explore the only park that spans two states.  Along the trail you will get views of the casinos, Edgewood golf course and Lake Tahoe.  About 3.6 miles from the trail head, you will connect with the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The Tahoe Rim Trail features 165 miles of wonderfully maintained trails spanning the ridge tops of the Lake Tahoe Basin. While a handful of people complete the trail each year, the trail is easily broken up into more digestible segments.
