Summer has arrived in Lake Tahoe. It’s time for beach days, zip line adventures and mountain biking. Summer in Tahoe provides a great time for us to focus on cleaning up and preserving our environment. Throughout the summer we will be posting more updates about all the fun events Heavenly is participating in as a part of our EpicPromise.
EpicPromise is how we will create a more promising future for generations to come. Vail Resorts wholeheartedly believes in preserving the intrinsic essence of the natural environments and communities where we work, play and call home.
Team Heavenly will be reducing the amount of miles we drive this summer, and is kicking it off during the Tahoe Bike Challenge, which takes place from June 1-14. Communities across the lake come together and log as many miles on their bikes as possible all to help preserve our beautiful environment. Put away the car keys and register at tahoebikechallenge.org. Log your miles and watch your savings on gas pile up.
The employees of Heavenly will join forces on Wednesday June 3rd to clean up the neighborhoods around the mountain to collect any trash and recycling. We are following this up with a mountain clean-up day later this summer that features a contest for who can find the most random item lost on the mountain. Stay tuned for updates on that one!
Also, Heavenly is sponsoring this year’s Compost your Combustibles program where Nevada residents can bring their residential yard waste to Heavenly Mountain’s Boulder Lodge between 9 am and 5 pm every day until July 19. Please be sure your pine needles are free of weeds and rocks. We’ll re-use them to produce natural sediment control waddles to keep the lake water pristine.
Whether you are participating in the Tahoe Bike Challenge, composting your combustibles or picking up a piece of trash on the trail, thank you for helping us keep Tahoe beautiful!
Happy Biking Tahoe,
