Mother’s Day in Lake Tahoe
If you are planning to hang with your mom at Lake Tahoe this Sunday, then you are already winning: Mom will be sure to get all the sunshine, fresh air, and bubbling champagne that she deserves. With a forecast for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 60’s, this Sunday the 11th is looking good for showering Mom with lots of love and affection.
If your mom loves being outdoors, she will probably appreciate a gift from Outside Magazine’s Mother’s Day Gifts for the Outdoorsy Mom. Active moms might also like one of the high tech items off of the EMS list.
Take Mom to Emerald Bay for a jaunt on the Rubicon Trail. Make the hike as long or as short as you like—killer views start as soon as you park your car. Bear in mind that there is a $10.00 fee to park in the Vikingsholm lot. On the trail you can view Lake Tahoe’s only island, Fannette Island, which is home to the Scandinavian style “Tea House.” May is a great time to visit this stunning park, since it gets crowded later in the summer months.
If you’d like to get out on the water, Lake Tahoe Tours is running a Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise on the MS Dixie II.
Eats & Drinks
A number of Mother’s Day brunches are set to please Mom’s taste buds, like the Edgewood Champagne Brunch, where bellinis and sashimi will be served…yum! If she is a sun worshiper, make a reservation on the deck at Riva Grill for Mother’s Day Brunch on the Lake. The Hungry Bear Restaurant and Zephyr Cove Restaurant will also be serving up incredible spreads in honor of the women who started it all.
Eat, drink, give, and get active on Mother’s Day, and don’t forget to tell Mom you love her!
