The winter season is not over! Kirkwood is open until Sunday, April 27th this year.
We’ve had such great month of skiing and riding up here. With such a deep base of snow – thanks in large part to 1) our advantageous geographic position that on average gets the most snow in the region; and 2) that wonderful dump at the beginning of the month – we have an excellent coverage over the entire mountain. ‘Firmish’ conditions early on have turned to bountiful “corn” snow harvests in the late mornings/early afternoons.
The plan was to invite everyone up to enjoy one more week of fun in the sun, but it appears Mother Nature may have other ideas. While we should see sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, it looks like snow Monday night into Tuesday and then again on Friday night into Saturday. Maybe another #EndofSeasonPowDay? We’ll see.
I for one love riding some good spring “corn” snow but it’s not the same as POW Hunting! I’m down for one or two more powder days to finish the season. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and our Twitter account for updates on the incoming weather.
Whatever Mother Nature has in store this week, come up and join us at Kirkwood. A day with your skis or board beneath your feet is a good day indeed. Don’t be that remorseful person in June wishing they had gotten a few more turns in.
