3/31/14- Cooler Sister Storm…
Our fast approaching snow system is making its way into the Tahoe Basin. Similar to our past 48hr storm which brought us 10 inches of fresh snow to our Heavenly slopes, we will begin the day with storm clouds brewing darker clouds throughout the day. This afternoon you can expect scattered snow showers increasing and ultimately strengthening overnight. We are expecting similar accumulation, around 10 inches, possibly more on higher terrain with the heaviest snow periods this evening into early tomorrow morning.
Please wear waterproof outerwear and expect mixed precipitation showers turning to snow around 11:00 a.m. Temperatures will stay cool near the mid 20s peaking near 27 degrees. We are expecting moderate wind with occasional strong gusts that may impact our upper mountain lift operations, along with the Heavenly Village Gondola. Please call our Snow Phone, 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1 for current mountain conditions and lift status.
It’s about time to wake up and pack your stuff up for a POW day. Yesterday I found myself in the white-room and have hopes of joining the fun again today. Gear up and head to the slopes!
~Austyn Harrington, Snow Reporter, 3/31/14 @8:00 a.m.
Good morning! Mother Nature is throwing us surprise winter wonderland treats as she delivered 10 inches of snow overnight! Not only is there new snow on the mountain, but there is snow down at Lake level, meaning the snow at our summit is light and fluffy powder. If you want first tracks, you better hurry up to one of our four mountain access locations: Stagecoach, Boulder Lodge, the Heavenly Village Gondola, or California Main Lodge; all scheduled lifts will open at 8:30 this morning.
Currently dark clouds linger over Lake Tahoe as the remains from last night’s storm pass through and will start to clear out later this morning. We are fortunate to see blue skies and sunshine for a bit, while we wait for another storm system to make its way over the Sierra’s. Today we are in between systems, but will be back on the snow grind as early as tomorrow morning. Check out our weather forecast here.
You can expect cool temperatures peaking near 27 degrees at our summit and reaching into the lower 40s at our base. With moderate to light wind expected, we are stoked on our 24 lifts giving access to 85 awesome trails, trimmed to fit everyone’s needs. If you are looking for fresh tracks, check out off-piste trails such as: Stage Line, Milky Way Bowl, and Galaxy Line. If you are interested in carving sweet turns down sublime corduroy, cruise over to Big Dipper in NV and High-Five in CA and rip up our groomers’ picks of the day.
Keep doing your snow dances and have a POW-tastic day shredding Heavenly!

3/29/14- GB25 Double Barrel…
Heavenly Mountain is currently socked in cloud coverage from this snow system which is expected to stick around until tomorrow morning. The good news is that snow flurries started to fall around 5:00 a.m. and we are expecting a significant amount of snow with heavy snow periods; rounding out to on-and-off snow throughout the ski day. According to Western Weather, we should see moderate snowfall and stormy conditions peak this morning into early this afternoon when temperatures will cool off and these blustery winds will start to calm down.
With heavy snow in our forecast and an EPIC race down East Bowl, we are stoked for an awesome day on the mountain. The Gunbarrel 25 (GB25) will kick off this morning at 10:00 and end at 4:00 this afternoon. The signup fee is 50$ and the proceeds will help fund our local race department and the Foundation Ski and Snowboard Teams. If you think you’ve got what it takes and the leg muscles to propel you down Double Black Diamond mogul terrain, sign up for the GB25 and let ‘er rip!
UPDATE as of 11:45 a.m.: Due to increasing winds, the Heavenly Village Gondola and the upper mountain in NV are closed for the day. NV terrain can be accessed through Stagecoach, with skiing and riding as high as Olympic Express, and Boulder Lodge as high as Boulder Chair. CA terrain can be accessed through the CA Main Lodge, with skiing and riding as high as Canyon Express. Check for updates here, or you can call the Snow Phone for immediate updates and mountain conditions 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1.

3/10/14- Light Snow Showers…
9:30 a.m. UPDATE: Upper Mountain CA/NV are experiencing wind hold. The highest you are able to ski/ride in CA is Canyon Express; in NV the highest you are able is Olympic Express. The Heavenly Village Gondola is on hold. Your two mountain access locations are: Stagecoach Express and CA Main Lodge. Please use our free shuttle buses running between bases.
Heavenly Mountain is currently socked in a cloud of moisture as this morning’s storm system is expected to bring a couple of fresh inches to our slopes (view our on-mountain WebCam here). We’ve already received one to two inches! Snow flurries began this early this morning around 5:30 a.m. We are banking on a 2-3 hour period of light snow before 11 a.m. and decreasing this afternoon.
Unfortunately, wind may impact our lift operations, in particular, the Heavenly Village Gondola. Currently it is very breezy out and we are expecting moderate with strong gusts to continue throughout the morning. This morning’s fairly quickly moving snow system will move to the south and east with precipitation tapering off to just scattered snow showers by this afternoon. Please call our Snow Phone, 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1 for immediate updates and current lift status.
Heavenly is scheduled to open at 9:00 a.m. via your three mountain access locations: 1. Stagecoach, 2. CA Main Lodge, 3. the Heavenly Village Gondola – depending on winds. Mott Chair and Groove Chair will open at 10:00 a.m.
We are operating 21 lifts accessing 83 trails today. We have an exceptionally varied leveled of terrain available, with something for everyone!
If it’s your first time at Heavenly Mountain, we invite you to ski with a Ranger and learn about Heavenly’s environment and what we do to keep Tahoe Blue. Registration is located at the top of the Gondola for a tour at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.The tour explores the natural and cultural history of the Lake Tahoe Basin, highlighting topics such as water quality, watershed restoration, habitat improvement, fire and fuels management and responsible recreation.
Keep THINKING SNOW and have a great day!

3/9/14- Healthy Moisture Plume…
This morning’s slightly overcast skies will thicken with clouds this afternoon as snow is predicted to start falling this evening; continuing overnight and lasting through early tomorrow morning. Snow levels are predicted to start out fairly high and drop as a cooler air mass plummets into the Tahoe Basin.
Today be prepared for winds to increase around the same time as the sky darkens preparing for snow. Winds may impact our lift operations today, please call the Snow Phone, 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1 for our most immediate updates and Mountain conditions or check here.
Heavenly Mountain will open this morning via all four mountain access locations at 8:30 a.m; lifts will close at 4:00 p.m. We are operating 26 lifts with access to a stunning 90 trails. I suggest shredding our groomers’ picks of the day due to their knowledge of the Mountain and well-educated decision on the best runs for the day. In Cali head over to Upper Double-Down and in NV, practice linking your turns down California Trail.
Adventure Peak offers two sledding lanes along with five adrenaline racing tubing lanes today. Adventure Peak, Groove Chair, and Mott Chair will open at 10:00 a.m. Epic Mix Racing will open shortly after 10:30 a.m.

3/8/14-The Mountains Are Calling…
This morning began with a gorgeous sunrise over Lake Tahoe, shining down on Mt. Tallac radiant beams of sunlight. Today we look forward to lovely mountain conditions with clear, sunny skies and mild temperatures that will rise this afternoon, peaking around mid 40s to lower 50s. This afternoon we are expecting increasing high clouds to form in preparation for our quickly approaching weather system moving into the Basin in the next few days.
This Saturday we will be turning our lifts via all four mountain access locations. Stagecoach and Boulder Lodge are located on Kingsbury Grade, the Heavenly Village Gondola is near Stateline, and the CA Main Lodge is right off Ski Run Boulevard. We are running 26 lifts giving access to 88 immensely diverse trails. We’ve got everything here at Heavenly Mountain, with something for everyone including: Adventure Peak’s two sledding and five tubing lanes which will open at 10:00 a.m. at the top of the Gondola.
Make sure to take Sky Express all the way to our CA Summit today so you can shred our groomers’ special winched run, Ellie’s. Stagecoach, top-to-bottom is our groomers’ run of the day in the NV side. Unbuckle from 3:30-5:30 in Tamarack Lodge and get the party started alongside our beautiful Heavenly Angels. If you have little ones’, bring them on down to the base of the Gondola at 4:30 for Ripperoo’s Parade!

3/7/14-Whip Out Your Sunnies…
Good morning Heavenly! The sun is shining today as we look forward to bluebird skies and currently there are no clouds in sight. Today’s forecast is calling for a break in our local snow showers with mild temperatures peaking this afternoon near 45 degrees.
Yesterday’s inch of new snow fell lightly on our trails and was preserved last night due to cool temperatures on-mountain. Heavenly Mountain’s overnight lows reached down into the teens allowing for cool moisture to trap itself between a layer of cloud that has just lifted as of 6:00 this morning.
Heavenly Mountain’s snow conditions are awesome and just that one inch made a huge difference to our Mountain. Author Sylvia Plath might have said it just right, “Well, I know now. I know a little more how much a simple thing like a snowfall can mean to a person.”- or a Mountain in our case.
Today we are running 20 lifts accessing 83 trails. Currently Round-A-Bout is closed; you must download Gunbarrel Express, take the tram, or brave THE FACE (experts only) in order to get back down to CA Main Lodge. View our Terrain and Lift Status here.
Lifts will open at 9:00 a.m. with the exception of Groove Chair and Mott’s which will open at 10:00 a.m. Your three Mountain access locations are: Stagecoach, the Gondola, and CA Main Lodge.
Whip out your sunnies and slab on some sunscreen. Today will be a great day shredding Heavenly Mountain!

3/6/14 – Welcome to the “GOOD LIFE”
UPDATE as of 1:30 p.m.: Tamarack Express and Sky Express are currently on wind hold. This means you can ski and ride from NV to CA but not the reverse at this time. Please take advantage of our free shuttle buses that run between the bases throughout the day.
Ah there is no better time but now to be in Lake Tahoe. I just spent the last 5 days road tripping through Utah for a ski vacation. Even though it was great to check out new mountains and explore new terrain, I found myself constantly marketing Lake Tahoe to everyone I met. I kept telling everyone that Lake Tahoe is amazing and literally has something for everyone to enjoy. I kept boasting about Heavenly and how good we have it here, how amazing the views are, how much vertical we have, how long the runs are, how extreme the terrain is, and how awesome our après scene is. I’ve always known it, but it took leaving for me to remember really how incredible it is here and that we really are living the “good life”.
We received one inch of fresh snow overnight and it is still snowing on the summit. We are expecting snow showers to continue, mainly before 10:00 a.m., then skies turning to partly cloudy with a high near 38 degrees on the summit with moderate to strong winds. These increasing winds may impact lift operations and we suggest everyone to call the snow phone at 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1, or by checking here for your most current updated information.
We open at 9:00 a.m. operating 20 lifts giving access to 84 diverse trails on and off-piste with powder, packed powder and machine groomed conditions. Cruise over to Mombo Meadows on the CA side and Comet on the NV side to shred our groomer’s picks of the day. Because we have something for everyone, we have two terrain parks open. Groove, our small park, is open on the CA side of the mountain with four jumps and 25 features. Ante Up, our intermediate terrain park, is located at the top of the Gondola, just below Tamarack Express with eight jumps and 26 features.
So, come on up and enjoy the awesome snow and conditions here at Heavenly and experience the “good life”.

3/5/14-Best Conditions of the Season…
Good morning shredders! With yesterdays 3 inches in addition to this past weekend’s 20 inches, Heavenly Mountain’s conditions are the best of the season! I was able to jam up to CA Main Lodge yesterday and took Face Laps all afternoon with a big ol’ smile spread from ear-to-ear.
Currently, The Face is littered with moguls; the left side has larger bumps, while the right side has smaller moguls. Both left and right sides are awesome work-outs for your lower legs and gave me a rush of adrenaline as it was my first laps of the season. I suggest shredding the upper mountain this morning and if you are an advanced or expert shredder, to head down The Face for a final glory run that will leave you craving more at the end of the day.
Our intermediate level trails are groovy with High Roller as the groomers’ CA trail of the day and California Trail as our NV run of the day. Make sure to cruise over to both of our groomers’ top picks for they are the best on the mountain with sublime corduroy. View our Terrain and Lift Status here.
This morning it is snowing lightly on-mountain. We are expecting mostly cloudy skies with increasing winds in preparation for this evening’s snow system that is moving into the Tahoe Basin. These windy conditions will continue overnight as this weather system’s cold front brings a period of lower terrain rain and upper terrain snow to the Lake Tahoe Basin. Today’s winds may impact our lift operations. Please call the snow phone, 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 1 for immediate updates- or check Heavenly’s Snow and Weather Report here.
Lifts will open at 9:00 with the exception of Groove Chair and Mott which will open at 10:00 a.m. Your three mountain access locations are: Stagecoach, the Heavenly Village Gondola, and CA Main Lodge. Lifts will close for the day at 4:00 p.m.
Have a great day, see ya on the slopes!

3/4/14- Fat Tuesday…
Happy Fat Tuesday Heavenly skiers and riders! Today is a day full of celebration as we celebrate Mardi Gras along with Mother Nature. We’ve been blessed with three inches of snow and currently it is still snowing! Celebrate with us at any of our awesome on-mountain dining locations with mountain dining specials. Over at Stagecoach Lodge we have a special southern-style Cajun burger along with a 21-and-older drink, the “Hurricane”. From 3:30-4:30 come on down to any of our base lodges and enjoy drink special and appetizers.
Today’s forecast is calling for light rain/snow ending early this morning with a mix of clouds and sun this afternoon. Temperatures will end up fairly mild ranging in the mid 30s to lower 40s. According to Western Weather, precipitation will return tomorrow night into Thursday when the next storm system will begin impacting the Tahoe Basin. We are expecting several inches of snow tomorrow night peaking early Thursday morning accompanied by increasing southerly winds becoming breezy by the evening.
With our new snow of three inches in addition to our recent storm total of 20-inches Heavenly Mountain is the place to be this Mardi Gras. For those of you looking to stick to the groomed runs today, our amazing team of groomers’ have done more than their part to ensure smooth corduroy with consistent and reliable soft snow radical for carving turns. This morning our Head Groomer recommends you check out Ridge Run in California and Dipper in Nevada.
Lifts will open at 9:00 this morning via Stagecoach, the Heavenly Village Gondola, and California Main Lodge. Grab some beads and head to the slopes!

3/3/14- Shred the Gnar…
Start your week with good vibes and scattered snow showers here at Heavenly Mountain. Forecasts are calling for light snow showers throughout the day and strengthening this evening into early tomorrow morning. These mild, fast moving disturbances will maintain considerable cloudiness across the Lake Tahoe Basin well into the week with light precipitation.
Today we are operating 21 lifts accessing 87 trails and 4200 acres of skiable terrain. Yesterday Ski Patrol opened new terrain including: Hogs Back, upper and lower Gunbarrel, lower Liz’s and Sky Canyon. We are stoked on our fresh terrain and are feeling extremely giddy about our latest conditions video featuring philosopher Alan Watts.
