November 2013 – Daily Snow Report

11/30/13- WARNING BRIGHT SUNSHINE AHEAD!

Sunshine over Lake Tahoe

Sunshine over Lake Tahoe

Good morning!

Overlooking the Lake Tahoe basin, the skies are clear and the sun is starting to peek over the mountains.  As we get ready for another Heavenly beautiful day, let me make a gentle reminder that even when the sun is out, there is a slight breeze and the air is chilly in the early mornings.  Always dress in layers and wear sunscreen and sunglasses to protect yourselves.

Temperatures are higher than average down at Lake level.  This mornings’ temperature is right around 30 degrees and will reach a high close to 50 degrees later this afternoon.  Top of Tamarack Express is a mere 28 degrees but will warm up ranging in the low 30’s right around lunch time.

Winds will stay light in the morning and will pick up later this afternoon and early evening will be moderate.

Our snowmaking team has once again groomed our 4-open runs into tip-top shape.  It’s a fantastic day to tear up Orion and pick of the day, California Trail in the morning while the snow is fresh, then head over to Tamarack Lodge and Bar 9150 where you can watch the youngsters sled.  Later this afternoon, join our Angels for Tahoe’s Ultimate Ski Après Party from 3:30-5:30 with dancing, DJ, happy hour, drink specials and FREE SWAG!!

Ski School is available for adults Level 1 and children Level 1 and Level 2. You can sign up starting at 8:30 at the base of the Gondola.

Sledding is for children 8 and under.  Located at the top of the Gondola starting at 11:00 a.m. for just $10 per hour.

California Base Lodge provides free parking and shuttle over to the Gondola which is set to run at 8:30 a.m. sharp

GRAB SOME SUNSCREEN AND GET STOKED FOR BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ON THE SLOPES!

the LEAST you could do is put an update on the snow phone! Its a monumental waste of time getting ready, driving over, parking in the pay lot and waiting – WHEN ITS OBVIOUS THAT YOU HAD NO INTENTION OF OPENING ON OPENING DAY!
we can’t all have our computers with us to see when you choose to post your update.
PLEASE, a little courtesy goes a long way.

  • SkiHeavenly

Hey Seacliff- Sorry for the inconvenience. We wanted to open today and as of yesterday were still confident in our ability to do so. That being said we can’t let employees or guests onto lifts when it’s unsafe to do so. The call was made this morning and we are doing everything we can to make sure the most current information is easily accessible.

  • joe

Sorry for being honest, but this is just another BS reply from you guys. Given the forecast there was no way in the world that you’d run any lifts today and you knew that yesterday already. If you make a decision make it early and communicate that decision through all of the means you have, that includes phone and website. We know that wind can affect operations and yes we’re always bummed if and when it happens. What we don’t need is the additional aggravation because you’re not able to communicate. There is no excuse for changing the lift status from on hold to open and that’s exactly what happened this morning…

  • SkiHeavenly

Hey Joe- I understand your frustration.

No BS on our end- we came in this morning with the expectation of opening. When we got the official “wind hold” call around 8AM we did the best we could to efficiently communicate that update. With less wind tomorrow we’re excited to have the opening we planned for today.

  • Carson Ranger

along these lines, it would be a major customer relations improvement if you would create a twitter account dedicated to vital mountain operations, so we don’t have to pull the phone out of the jacket to see a retweeted comment or worse, some more ads … thanks for your consideration

  • Me

Do people realize that this is what Twitter was invented for, specifically announcing event updates. It would be grate if people utilized this instead of tweeting that they just farted….

  • Jesse Plate

Hey There- We’ve thought about this and continue to consider making a Heavenly Snow Report Twitter account, but in the meantime please sign up for our snow alert emails at skiheavenly.com. You can also filter our tweets using #snow to find only the posts that have to do with conditions.

  • Jesse Plate

Hey Carson- This is something we’re certainly considering. In the meantime you can sign up for our snow alert emails at skiheavenly.com. We also tag all our conditions tweets with #snow and update our website to reflect any weather changes here.
