Opening Day Plan Nov. 22, 2013

Ignore the rumors. Turn a deaf ear to the whispers. Yes, Heavenly is opening on Friday!!

Heavenly received 5” of new snow during this current storm cycle, and it’s still snowing! Plus, our snowmakers are hard at work when conditions allow.

The Gondola will start turning for guests at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Tamarack Express will be open, accessing 14 acres and 1.5 miles of skiable terrain on California Trail to Tamarack Return. We do however anticipate high winds tomorrow which may impact lift operations. Please call 1-800-HEAVENLY opt 1 for the most current conditions.

There will be swag giveaways to the first 100 skiers and riders in line, so be sure to get there early.

As we look ahead, Heavenly will open additional terrain and park features as soon as we can. We’ll continue to make snow on various trails, including on Ante Up, and will expand as soon as the snow surface conditions are up to our gold standard. We are committed to quality, and don’t want you to think twice about which pair of skis or what snowboard you grab on the way out the door. Yep, leave those rock skis at home.

If your legs need a break from the burn of the first day on the mountain, swing by Tamarack Lodge for the first Unbuckle après party of the season starting at 3:30 p.m. Nothing to take the rust off like a half-price drink…or dancing with the lovely Heavenly Angels.

Free parking is available at Cal Main Lodge, and there will be free shuttle buses from there to the Gondola.

If you haven’t purchased a season pass, it’s not too late…but it will be next week, as Sunday, November 24, is the last day to purchase a season pass. Click here to buy now!

*For the most current ski and ride school offerings, please call 1-800-HEAVENLY and press 7.

What time does the Gondola start each day and what time is the last gondola up

  2. SkiHeavenly Says:

Hi Rick- Our operating hours are 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday-Friday; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Our Gondola stays open until 5:30 pm for the Unbuckle apres ski party at Tamarack, weather permitting. A Gondola ride is approximately 20 min. and we recommend allowing plenty of time to enjoy yourself up top!

  3. D Says:

is there any beginner terrain available on Saturday and Sunday

  4. Jesse Plate Says:

Hi D- Our initial opening will be intermediate terrain only. We want to get beginner terrain open ASAP so stay tuned for further updates.

  5. M Says:

Weather sources are saying it’s going to be quite windy this afternoon and into the morning hours tomorrow…any chance we will see a wind hold, or is it a go no matter what tomorrow since it’s opening day?

  6. FJW Says:

Any chance of Orion or Comet opening before the weekend is out?

  7. Jesse Plate Says:

    Hey M-
We are keeping an eye on the weather and would put the mountain on a wind hold if it’s unsafe to run the lifts. Opening day or not- providing safe conditions is our top priority.

  8. Jesse Plate Says:

    Hey FJW-
Orion and Comet are both very close. There isn’t a scheduled date for them but we’re trying to get them ready ASAP to provide the excellent conditions you’d expect from us. We will keep you posted as more trails are opened.

  9. PFX Says:

how many lifts and runs are going to be open by Saturday?

  10. Mike Says:

how much will Ski-With-A-Friend ticket cost this year if I buy a season pass?

  11. SkiHeavenly Says:

Hey D- We’ll be opening tomorrow with the same plan outlined in this blog. As of now it is only intermediate terrain but we are working on getting some beginner runs open ASAP.

  12. SkiHeavenly Says:

Hey M- I hope you saw our response yesterday. As this morning has unfortunately shown, we will not operate lifts when it is not safe to do so (opening day or any other day.)

  13. SkiHeavenly Says:

Hey FJW- We’re still making snow and hoping to open more terrain as soon as possible. Tomorrow’s plan is to open just with Tamarack Express and Cal Trail and we will keep you updated as more terrain becomes available.

  14. SkiHeavenly Says:

    Hey Mike,

Ski-With-A-Friend ticket prices vary by date. Until 11/26 a SWAF ticket will cost $74. For more details please visit :http://www.snow.com/epic-pass/pass-benefits/swaf.aspx

  15. SkiHeavenly Says:

Hey PFX- We are going to open tomorrow with the same plan outlined in the above blog. For more details and current conditions please call 1-800-HEAVENLY.

  16. JY Says:

Is there a ticket just for the gondola ride?

  17. Jesse Plate Says:

Hey Jessica- Yes, you may purchase a Gondola ticket at the base of the Gondola. Highly recommend coming up and stopping to take in some views from the observation deck while you’re in town.
