Olympic Training Q+A: Joanna “PNUT” Dzierawski

This past week I had a chance to chat with one of our Epic Team Members Joanna “PNUT” Dzierawski about her upcoming season and her plans for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics….

Q: What are your plans for the upcoming season?

A: My first priority is always to have fun and remember why I started snowboarding! However, with the Winter Olympics coming up in February, it’s been a bit more hectic with travel & training than usual. I have two World Cup events, in December/January, hopefully heading to Sochi in February, and then I hope to enjoy lots of sunshine and pow days for the rest of the season 🙂

Q: What did you do this summer for fun?

A: I love cruising on my bike, staying in shape, spending time at the beach, playing volleyball, and exploring Tahoe with friends!

Q: What does your training regiment look like in both the summer and winter?

A: In the summer, I ride my bike everywhere I can, stay in the gym, and make some trips to the snow to keep my shred going! In winter, I definitely stay in the gym and ride as much as I can! I also make sure I participate in as much Yoga as I can and focus on eating healthy.

Q: What have you been up to lately?

A: For the last 6 weeks I’ve been in Austria riding on Glaciers. I love this place!

Q: What’s your favorite run at Heavenly?

A: That’s my favorite pow run and it’s a secret – can’t tell ya 🙂

Q: What is your favorite sport besides snowboarding?

A: I grew up playing volleyball and dreamed of playing in college. I still play as much as I can, but I never grew past 5’3″ tall so that didn’t work out; I started snowboarding and you’ll never hear me complain on how that worked out!
