Heavenly Summer Activities in September

Heavenly Gondola Summer

We hope you enjoyed a fabulous Labor Day weekend!

As the evenings begin to be cooler and the last days of summer fade away, Heavenly’s hours of operation are shifting. Starting this week, the Heavenly Gondola will be open for sightseeing on Fridays-Sundays from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. until September 29.

Activities at Adventure Peak, located at the top of the Gondola will include hiking, tubing, a 25-foot rock climbing, 30-foot spider climber for kids, and dining at Tamarack Lodge. Be sure to head up the Gondola to soak in the last bit of summer at Tahoe.

After September 29, Heavenly will close to prepare for the 2013-2014 ski and ride season. Mark your calendars for Opening Day on November 22!

A note on the Rim Fire: Smoke from the Rim Fire has been affecting the Tahoe area over the last couple of weeks. Conditions vary day-to-day depending on wind and weather patterns. This morning we have blue skies, warm temps and a few low hanging clouds. You can check up-to-the-minute air quality reports at AIRNow.gov.

Since six of us are going to be in South Lake Tahoe in the middle of the week we are disappointed that we won’t be able to go to the top of Heavenly. Is there anything else to do in the Heavenly Valley area? Since we are all about 76, some of us are limited to long hikes. Thanks Carol

Hi Carol- We are glad you are coming up to experience Lake Tahoe’s beauty and are disappointed as well that you all won’t be able to make it to Heavenly. There are many other exciting things to do in the area though! I’d recommend a ride on the M.S. Dixie or Tahoe Queen paddle wheelers, exploring the beaches (Lakeview Commons is great), or Fallen Leaf Lake offers a beautiful short hike! Feel free to call us at 775-586-7000 if you have any more questions. Enjoy!
