If you’re staying and playing in South Lake Tahoe this summer, the Heavenly Village is your perfect one-stop-shop to get outfitted with everything you need to get out there. Whether you’re relaxing on the beach or trying out a new hike, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a quick run-down of what you’ll find as you’re strolling the sidewalks of the Heavenly Village.
THE BIGGEST SELECTION OF SUNGLASSES…EVER:
If you’re anything like me, you need a pair of sunglasses that are practical, stylish and unique. I’m not easy to please in the sunglass arena, but Heavenly Eyes has an enormous selection of shades sure to please even the most particular tastes. With brands like Oakley, Smith and Maui Jim, it’s easy to fall in love with that perfect pair of sunnies.
Fairly new to the village is the Heavenly Sports bike rental shop. If you’re looking for some action on two wheels, the awesome staff here will get you paired up with the best bike for your riding style. They rent full suspension, cruisers and kid’s bikes. If you’re not sure where to ride, just ask the folks at the shop, they are chock full of knowledge about all of the best trails and family-friendly paths here on the South Shore. Ask about $15 all-day bike rentals.
BATHING SUITS & BOARD SHORTS:
Headed to the beach? The Quiksilver store has the best selection of swim & beach wear in the village, hands down. As a girl (always in search of the perfect bikini), I make Quiksilver my first stop. Their (very cute and in-style) Roxy bathing suits are plentiful and it’s the perfect place to complete your beach ensemble with a beach cover-up or the latest style of sandals. Boys, don’t worry…they have just as big of a selection of Quiksilver board shorts and flip flops for your trip to the beach.
The Village is not lacking in the high-end hiking gear category. You can easily get yourself fully outfitted for a day hiking in the wilderness with the Patagonia & North Face stores. Each of these stores has their own unique selection of hiking boots, hydration packs, day packs, rain gear and outdoor clothing; perfect for the cool summer mornings and warm sunny afternoons.
Longboarding and California sunshine go hand in hand, if you’re in the market for a new longboard or have always wanted to try it out, Boardinghouse has a healthy selection of Sector 9 longboards (for sales, no rentals). They also now carry Nike 6.0 skate shoes to complete your set-up. After you pick up your new deck, the Camp Richardson bike path is a fun place to go for a skate. Try going early in the morning or later in the evenings when there are less bikers and walkers on the path. Don’t forget to stop by The Beacon (it’s just off the path at Camp Richardson) for a Rum Runner, too.
Just writing this makes me want to go shopping! The Heavenly Village is a great place to find the missing pieces of your summer gear puzzle. And, the best part is about shopping at any of these stores is the knowledgeable staff; these guys and gals are the ones who are out there every day testing this stuff out. They’re ready to answer your gear questions and get you outfitted for the perfect outdoor experience in Tahoe.
