This Sunday is Mother’s Day! I had my baby girl Lila this November, so this will be my first Mother’s Day. Naturally when we were deciding who should write our annual Mother’s Day gift guide, I volunteered.
Living in the mountains means I spend a lot of my family time outside enjoying the best mother of all … Mother Nature. So when it comes to a Mother’s Day present, I look for something that adds to my love of the outdoors. If your mom (or wife) is an outdoorsy gal, here are some gift ideas to make her day extra special.
This summer I want to be able to take Lila out on some hikes, so I’ve had my eye on a good hiking child carrier. REI has some great options I’ve been exploring. I love this idea for a mother’s day gift because it helps promote special mommy-child time outdoors.
If your mom is part foodie, part outdoors girl, a picnic set could be a great idea. There’s nothing better than a summer day spend at the beach or park with family over a yummy picnic.
Outdoorsy moms like to work up a sweat, but we also like to slow down and get pampered. And what’s one way to take a massage to the next level? Get one outside! Here in Lake Tahoe there are several places that will allow your mom to indulge your spa self AND her outdoorsy self.
Depending on where you live, why not get your mom something she’ll never forget … an outdoor adventure with the people she loves the most – her kids! Here in Tahoe, I would recommend taking a yoga class on a stand up paddle board, white water rafting on the Truckee River or mountain biking the flume trail.
I can’t wait to celebrate my first Mother’s Day enjoying the beauty that is Lake Tahoe with my budding nature-lover. What other gift ideas for an outdoorsy mom would you add to this list?
