4/14/13 Ski Patrol Fundraiser

2013 Ski Patrol Fundraiser FINAL-01

The last couple of weekends at Heavenly have been jam packed with moguls, parties, live music, Shaun White and fireworks. The action on the mountain seems to have been non-stop this season, and with it being closing weekend, of course we’re going party like it’s 1999. Most locals know that the best way to end the season is by watching the sunset atop the Heavenly Gondola parking garage with a cold beer in hand at the Annual Heavenly Ski Patrol Fundraiser. Each year, the community comes together for this fun-loving event to support local charities, mingle with friends and get down to some great live local music.

This year, proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit 3-year-old McKenzie Eckman of South Lake Tahoe who has been diagnosed with leukemia. We are also proud to help support our own Craig Gish, who has been part of the Heavenly family for 22 years and is being treated for blood cancer. Additionally, Heavenly Ski Patrol has had a close relationship with the Special Olympics Team Tahoe and for over ten years, this fundraiser has helped keep the 55 athletes active and support them in their adventures in sports.

Anyone can attend the fundraiser, $10 gets you in the door and enters you into a raffle for a Tahoe Value Pass (must be present to win). There will be a second chance to win a pass by purchasing additional raffle tickets at the event or on-mountain from Ski Patrol – you don’t need to be present at the event to win this drawing. There will be a silent auction with tons of prizes donated by over 20 local businesses, everything from restaurant gift certificates to boat and parasail rentals. Local sponsors include Heavenly Mountain Resort, Heavenly Sports, Nepheles, Beach Hut Deli, Bud Light, Dog Dog Cat, and Cork & More, to name a few.

Beer and wine will be for sale along with fresh sandwiches from Beach Hut Deli. Kids can enjoy complimentary face paintings, the Avalanche Rescue Dogs, and a bounce house. EpicMix Photographers will be on site to capture all of your funny fundraiser moments – so don’t forget to bring your season pass! Throughout the night, enjoy the sounds of Jellybread, Deep Fried Mojo and The Devastators. New this year, hash it out with your favorite ski patroller or mountain safety employee by taking a shot at soaking them in the Dunk Tank! Five dollars gets you two shots to dunk, bring your pitching arm, and let’s soak some patrollers.

It’s been a great season, so let’s raise a glass and celebrate together for a good cause! I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
