Daily Snow Reports – March 2013

03/31/13 – Happy Easter Sunday!

IMG_0431

Good morning! We received a trace of new snow overnight, and another few inches is in the forecast to fall above 7000’ before the day is over! Expect the skies to remain cloudy throughout the day as scattered snow showers and flurries move through the area, so bring out your orange tint or clear goggles.

Temperatures will remain cooler, with highs in the mid 30s expected on the mountain, and the winds will remain relatively light.

We plan to operate 25 lifts and 93 runs for you to carve up and explore. Possible electrical storms may impact lift operations, so check skiheavenly.com or call 1-800-HEAVENLY for updates.  Temperatures did dip below freezing last night, which means the snow at the higher elevations will be fast until new snow falls and softens them up.

Today is the last day of operations for Boulder Lodge. Northbowl Chair will remain open, and the buses will continue to loop past the Boulder Lodge for guest who prefer to park in the Boulder parking lot.

We hope you had an opportunity to get over to CA Lodge to watch some of the amazing athletes at the US Freestyle Championships. We have two more great events for you coming up next weekend: the High Roller Hold’Em and Gunbarrel 25.

Remember, pick up your 13/14 Season Pass by April 14 to lock in all the best benefits. Visit a Season Pass office or here for more information.

03/30/13 – US Freestyle Championships in full swing!

2013 Nationals at Heavenly - Day 2 Training45

Good morning! It’s going to be another pleasantly warm day, although without as much sunshine as yesterday. Expect increasing clouds in the skies with a 50% chance of snowfall developing in the afternoon at the higher elevations. Winds will be light today, and highs are forecasted to be in the mid 50s at the base and mid 40s on the mountain.

Heavenly plans on operating 25 lifts and 93 runs today. Temperatures did drop below freezing last night so the first few runs will be fast. As soon as the sun hits the snow it will soften back up, perfect for practicing those big bump runs.

The groomers say for favorable conditions stay high on the mountain, and pick Ridge Run in CA and Comet in NV as their runs of the day.

Due to the precipitation that is expected tomorrow, the Dual Moguls in the US Freestyle Championships have been moved up to today. The qualification rounds will start at 10:00 a.m. this morning, with the finals slated for 2:45 this afternoon. This won’t affect the timing of the women’s and men’s Aerials Finals, which will still begin at 5:40 p.m. on World Cup.

Tomorrow will be the last day of operations for Boulder Lodge. Northbowl Chair will remain open, and the buses will continue to loop through the Boulder parking lot.

For those of you who want to get the party starting before heading to the US Freestyle Championships, Unbuckle is going down at Tamarack Lodge. Start you night with half-price drinks, dancing, and appetizer specials, then head to CA Lodge to catch the Aerials Finals, free concerts, and a fireworks show.

The groomers have been hard at work freshening up the soft snow each night. Last night they groomed over 40 runs, picking Ridge Run in CA and Big Dipper in NV as their favorites for the day. Expect machine groomed, fast riding snow this morning, but with the mild temperatures it should soften up a little by late morning.

Have you tried out Epic Mix Racing yet?  Located off of Ridge Run, you can compete against your friends and family, and even professional ski-racer Lindsey Vonn’s time, to win bragging rights for the rest of the year.

And after a great day of skiing or riding, we have half-price drinks for you at Stagecoach, Boulder, Tamarack, and CA Main Lodge starting at 3:30 p.m.

03/21/13 – Snow blanketed Heavenly!

3.20.13 snow

Good Morning!

If yesterday’s wet weather kept you away from tearing up all that Heavenly has to offer, then today will be a great day to get back on track.  Skies will be sunny, and cooler temperatures are expected to last until the weekend. It is currently 22 degrees on the mountain, with a high of 35 degrees forecasted for this afternoon.

The 3-5″ that fell in the last 24 hours helped to soften up the snow, leaving miles of freshly groomed runs and small powder stashes for you to explore. Although not nearly as gusty as yesterday, winds are expected to be moderate today, so a little sunscreen, your tinted lenses, and windbreaker will be the perfect combo.

Epic mix racing will be open, and so will our three terrain parks, High Roller Park, Ante-Up Park, and Groove, as well as the 18’ half-pipe, for you to get some big air today.

If groomed runs are more your style, make sure you check out Sam’s Dream in NV and High Five in CA, our groomers picks of the day.

The groomer’s say the skiing and riding is the best on Aries in NV and Ridge Bowl in CA.  Aries is always a great run to lap before warming up with hot cocoa in East Peak Lodge.

Our free shuttle buses will be running between  all 4 base areas allowing you to start you day in CA and end in NV, or vice versa, then shuttle your weary legs home.

How is it that on today’s Snow Report that Heavenly can report 6″ of new snow in the last 48 hours, but only 1″ of new snow in the last 7 days??? Good trick!

  • SkiHeavenly

Hi Valley Jim! Thanks for catching the mistake! Our snow total widget wasn’t pulling in our newest information and we have since fixed it. Cheers!
