Win Tickets to See The Shins May 11

Shins_bloggage

Even though Heavenly will be closed for the ski season in mid-May, the unique thing about Tahoe is that it’s not all just about the mountains. While it is the main draw for myself (and so many others), it’s just the top item on a very long list of perks. Aside from the amazing snow, abundant sunshine, sandy summer beaches, stellar views and impressive terrain, Tahoe proudly owns the world’s most unrivaled Après and nightlife scenes; laying the concrete for a thriving concert atmosphere.

But, since most of you don’t need convincing when it comes to visiting Tahoe and partying, I’ll continue on to tell you about something very, very important and serious; The Shins are coming to Tahoe May 11.

The Shins are an Albuquerque-now-Portland-based Indie-Rock band that have been stealing the hearts and ears of so many music lovers since 1996. Their cheerful, down-to-earth sound is an easy one to become addicted to, no matter your typical listening habits. If you plugged The Shins into a Pandora station, you would likely hear the beats of Modest Mouse, The Postal Service, Band of Horses, The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Elliott Smith, etc.

Or, if you’re more of a movie buff and you’ve seen the movie “Garden State” a few of their songs may sound familiar, such as “Caring is Creepy” and “New Slang” which also landed on their 2001 debut album “Oh, Inverted World.” Many people would say that their presence in “Garden State” exposed The Shins to a broader audience, giving them the exposure they needed to launch into a musical jet stream of Billboard chart-topping awesomeness.

Now, for those of you who are already die-hard Shins fans and are questioning the purpose of this Shins-related Heavenly blog…behold! Heavenly is giving away tickets to the May 11 show at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa in South Lake Tahoe! It’s bound to be an amazing show, as the band will be touring for their March 2012 album “Port of Morrow.”

So, if you’re ready to Wince the Night Away with The Shins in Tahoe, here’s how to enter to win one of five pairs of tickets:

- Send an e-mail to heavenlysocialmedia@gmail.com with the subject line “Shins Giveaway” by Friday, March 29.
- Winners will be selected at random and notified by email on April 1. (No April Fool’s!)
- One entry per person…no cheating!

Good luck my fellow Shins fans!

Sorry to hear that the ski season is over already. I thought you were contractually obligated to run until April 15th. Should I be looking into cancelling my Easter ski trip?

Hi Ert- Sorry for the confusion, Heavenly’s closing day is April 14. Heavenly will be closed during the date of the concert on May 11. The sun is out and we just received 6″ of new snow! Easter will be an excellent time to come out, with fun conditions and the arrival of the U.S. Freestyle National Championships. See you on the slopes!
