Opening Day Arriving Early at Heavenly

Good Morning, Skiers and Riders!

Great news this morning, Heavenly is opening early – Wednesday, November 14!

While we were originally scheduled to open this Friday, November 16, with 33-40 inches of natural snowfall in the books already for the 2012/13 season, the weather and snowmaking stars have aligned and allowed us to bring you open terrain this Wednesday instead. On November 14, you can carve those edges on the finest snow surfaces in the Tahoe Basin. The Gondola will be open for mountain access and we’ll be operating Tamarack Express for access to skiing and riding. We’ll continue to update you here as new terrain opens. There will even be a few terrain park features available on CA Trail, courtesy of Heavenly Terrain Parks.

Heavenly received another 2 inches of snow over the weekend, bringing the recent storm total to 14-17 inches in total; certainly a welcome boost to our base for the new opening day and a great help to the snowmakers and groomers who are working feverishly to prepare more terrain for you, as soon as possible. Plus, there’s even more good news: there’s more snow in the forecast throughout opening weekend.

While, clearly, skiing or riding is the motivating factor for being here on opening weekend, the fun doesn’t stop there. The town comes alive with celebration, as we dive head first back into winter. Saturday night kicks off with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in the Montbleu Showroom at 8:00 pm. And ladies can compete for a $500 prize during the Leather and Lace costumed after party.  Harrah’s South Shore room will be host to The Average White Band at 7:30 pm, if funk and soul are more your taste.

Two days and counting…
