Boat-in camping at Emerald Bay

Emerald Bay is one of the most beautiful, most photographed places in the world. Thousands of visitors flock every year to view its crystal blue-green waters. And one of the most unique ways to experience Emerald Bay is at the Boat-in Campground located on the north side of the Bay.

The campsites are nestled in the trees along the shore; the lone dock jetting out of the shore is pretty much the only thing that gives away the campground’s location. I made the trip a few weeks ago with a group of friends and we had a great time.

Once all of the tour boats and other day-trippers head home, the Bay becomes completely silent. We set up our campsite and feasted on grilled kabobs, pasta salad and homemade cookies. The dock served as the ideal stargazing spot for the night.

One of my favorite memories of the trip was watching the sunrise over the Lake. The water was so still and the colors were phenomenal. It was definitely worth the early morning wakeup.

The campground is only open during the summer, July 1 – September 3. This is definitely something you don’t want to miss! To reserve your spot visit ReserveAmerica.com.
