Making The Ultimate Ice Cream Sundae at Heavenly
Being five months pregnant means I often have some strong cravings. Egg salad, pickles, popcorn and cherries top the list right now. Of course one food that is almost constantly on my mind this summer is Ice Cream!
So you can imagine the smile that crept on my face when I heard that Heavenly is offering an ice cream sundae bar up at Tamarack Lodge this summer. We like to share some of what’s happening on the mountain during the summer with our blog readers, so it was a no brainer for me to volunteer when someone recently suggested we “test out” the new ice cream offering.
I headed up the Gondola last Friday with a coworker to see if I could in fact create the “Ultimate Ice Cream Cone” I had been craving all day long.
We met up with some of the food and beverage staff, who were almost as excited as we were to show off the ice cream bar. Clearly it’s a favorite feature of their’s too. Turns out the ice cream isn’t just your typical, run of the mill ice cream. It’s made by the Hoch Family Creamery, which is a local company. Greg Hoch actually works at Heavenly!
You can tell the difference in this ice cream vs. “regular” kinds. It’s soft, super creamy and the flavors really pop in your mouth. When we went they were offering Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Mint Chip (my fav), Spumoni and Black Cherry Chip.
For toppings, you choose from a ton of options: hot fudge, chocolate syrup, caramel, strawberry topping, nuts, M&M’s, Reese’s peanut butter cups, sprinkles, Oreo crumbles, whipped cream and of course cherries.
After exploring the options thoroughly, I set to work creating what I would call one heck of an ice cream treat…
Step One: Waffle cone
Step Two: vanilla and mint chip ice cream
Step Three: Oreo crumbles
Step Four: hot fudge
YUM!

It was just what this prego momma needed on a hot summer day.
Next time you’re at Heavenly, don’t forget to cool off with some delicious ice cream. Heck, go up just FOR the ice cream! You won’t be disappointed.
What would be in your “Ultimate Ice Cream Sundae?”
