When dining in Lake Tahoe the best part is the view, which is exactly what you get when you have lunch at Gunbarrel Grill at Heavenly Ski Resort. Located at the top of Gunbarrel lift inside Lake View Lodge on the California side, Gunbarrel Grill is Heavenly’s only full service restaurant. It is a perfect getaway to go inside, sit down and relax and have a glass of wine while enjoying panoramic views of beautiful Lake Tahoe.
The menu offers six entrée selections, house-made soups, wine country array and an extensive wine list. Definitely start with the array, which is an impressive display of gourmet cheeses, grilled vegetables, assorted breads, sliced meats, salad, olives and fresh fruit. By first look, you can tell the amount of work that goes into setting the array up each day, and it tastes as good as it looks!
The most popular entrees are the Kobe Beef Sliders, Champagne Chicken and the Vegetable Stack. The Kobe sliders are grilled to perfection and topped with smoked cheddar, crispy onion strings and smeared with garlic aioli served with decadent garlic fries. The Champagne Chicken is sautéed with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and tarragon in a cream sauce over a bed of angel hair pasta. Delish!
And finally, my favorite, the Grilled Vegetable and Mushroom and Goat Cheese Stack, which is a towering masterpiece of grilled polenta, eggplant, zucchini, grilled tomato, Portobello mushroom, onions and a scrumptious red bell pepper puree.
Don’t forget to save room for dessert. I usually opt for the Chocolate Fondue, a warm pool of luscious chocolate served with fresh fruit and pound cake, graham crackers and marshmallows. Because who doesn’t love putting food on those little forks and dipping it in melted chocolate?  Fun and delicious at the same time, this is how I would describe the experience at Gunbarrel Grill.
It is truly Heavenly’s best kept secret, but I’m ready to share it with the world so you too can experience the best food and most amazing views on the mountain. An experience of lifetime awaits you at Heavenly.
