When we needed someone to review our newest on mountain dining venue, Steins, I immediately jumped to offer my services. Everything about the experience is social and relaxing. After getting up early to catch some fresh corduroy (thank you groomers!) and taking some epic EpicMix photos, Sally and I headed over to the Cal side to grab some grub.
Let me just say, the setting couldn’t be better. This little hub is located at the base of Powderbowl Express and Patsy’s, with the Umbrella Bar on one side and a bank of Adirondack chairs on the other. We ordered a Kielbasa and a Chicken Sausage on pretzel bread buns. Yep, that’s right. You can get any of their sausages served on pretzel bread which is so yummy you can eat it plain or dipped in a little mustard.
Steins features an array of grilled sausages, turkey wraps and soups. The dogs are grilled up on an outdoor grill, spreading sweet smelling aromas through the air. I’d definitely recommend the Chicken Sausage and the Hot Link if you looking for a kick. And the all outdoor seating is the perfect way to soak in some California sun.
Also newly situated on the Cal side is everyone’s favorite Umbrella Bar. This circular yurt-like bar is the perfect perch for people watching, featuring a fully retractable umbrella rooftop, floor-to-ceiling windows and many delicious beers on tap.
Steins and the Umbrella Bar make up the ideal place to take in a bluebird day. So next time you are on the mountain, slide on in to Steins to refuel and relax. Old world. On Slope. Open Air.
