Yesterday, Heavenly hosted the first in a four-part slopestyle competition series, the Stateline Showdown, with the final battle for a large cash purse scheduled for April 16th.
The event looked like a mini X Games! Ante Up park was in prime condition. Riders loved the course and showed it by throwing down! The level of riding was truly impressive in all categories and should make for an interesting series. At Tamarack Lodge, reggae/ska band, Planting Seeds, had the music flowing and set a cool vibe for the event.
Heavenly’s sponsored athletes all rose to the occasion, with Jason Arens taking the top spot in the 21 or Older Male Skier category and Ty Dayberry in a close 2nd. Graham Raymond and Myles Hallen placed 5th and 6th, respectively, in the 21 or older Male Snowboard category, and Joanna “PNut†Dzierzawski took 3rd for the Open Women Snowboard and model Raeylnd Tarnove took 4th .
With 51 competitors in the first series, you’re going to want to grab your spot early for part two… the limit is 80! Pre-register by calling the Heavenly Race Department at 530-542-5133.
Special thanks go out to Rob Guistina with On Course Events, the Heavenly Terrain Park Crew, The Boarding House and The Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation for all of their respective contributions to the event!
Be sure to check out the photos below and I’ll see you on February 26th at 11am in Ante Up Terrain Park!
