Kyle Smaine | North Face Competition

Kyle Smaine | North Face Competition

Heavenly is fortunate enough to have an awesome High Roller Freeride Team comprised of some incredibly talented skiers and snowboarders. Here’s a recap of where they are and what they’re doing this season…

For starters, our congratulations go out to both Kyle Smaine and Jason Arens for qualifying in the recent TNFPPOS (The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series) and to Kyle for placing 11th in the finals up against the best in the business! Way to represent, Guys! Kyle also received his invite to the second stop of the 2011Winter Dew Tour, a tiny little competition you may have heard of….

Jason high-tailed it out of Tahoe after the series and is on his way down to Mountain High near Los Angeles for the Gatorade Free Flow Tour… Hope you kill it, Jason!

In addition to Jason and Kyle, PNut and Pooch (Joanna Dzierzawski and Nick Poohachoff, respectively) were invited to the Winter Dew Tour at Keystone last month.  Coming off an injury that kept him out of the first Dew Tour, Pooch is headed to the next stop on the tour in Killington, Vermont with Smaine to give it another shot!  Glad to hear you’re recovering, Pooch!

Ben Schmitt is about to take a trip of his own… starting off with some hob-knobbing at the European X Games in France and rounding out with some heli-skiing and filming in Valdez, Alaska. We are jealous, Ben. We may not speak to you when you get home.

Brent Whipple is our youngest team member—our Grom, if you will– but if you saw him ski, you wouldn’t know it!  Brent is fortunate enough to be attending the Waterville Valley Academy in New Hampshire, starting this week!  That means he goes to school and skis; a rough life, but someone has to live it!

And then there’s our Olympic-hopeful, Sho Kashima.  Sho was down with an injury last season, but has come back strong.  He’s currently on a World Cup tour: Quebec this weekend, Lake Placid next weekend, and Calgary after that. You’ll be able to catch the action on NBC soon enough!

We appreciate all of the hard work you put in, HRT, and can’t wait to see where it takes all of you!

Powder to the People,
