Sho Kashima Checks-In from Mogul Logic

Hey everyone!
I’ve been in Whistler for about a week now, I’m coaching a camp called Mogul Logic. We work with kids and adults from all over the globe who want to get better at Mogul skiing. The first week was filled with inconsistent weather and we even had a couple days of snow! We had a powder day in July!
Unfortunately, I can’t enjoy the skiing to the max. I’m only about 5 months out of surgery, and I’m limited to just sliding down the hill sideways and getting down safely. It’s nice to take a step back and watch/coach some phenomenal skiing and think about what I’d like to do when I get back on snow.
The rehab is going well and my knee is getting stronger very quickly. I had repairs on my ACL and Meniscus, but my doctor says I’m healing about as quickly as just an ACL repair. I’m very happy with the direction my rehab is going, and my numbers in the weight room are about the best they have ever been. I’m looking forward to see how well this will pay off in the seasons to come!
After I’m done with the Whistler camp, I will be heading out to Maine to coach the CVA trampoline/skate camp in Sugarloaf. I’ll continue to rehab because we’ll have a great gym to work out in while I coach the kids on the trampolines.
The rest of the summer will continue to be more of the same. I don’t plan on being fully back on snow until October. I’m in no rush to test my knee in the moguls and jumps, and I want to be at 125% strength before I do so. With the World Championships approaching in January 2011, I’m looking to get revenge on the Deer Valley course that ended my season in 2010 as well as ended my chase to be in the Vancouver Olympics. Things are looking great, and I’m looking forward to coming back and making Tahoe proud! I hope you are all having a great summer in Tahoe or wherever you are.
Take care!

I was much dissapointed to discover an additional $6.00 charge to ride up Tammarack Chair.I feel this is a flat out rip off to your guests. The fee charged to ride up the gondola is more that enough to pay for Mtn access.

Thanks for your note, skijunky. The Summit Ticket is an excellent product – well worth the $6. But it is its own separate operation with a fixed cost to run the lift, staff it, sweep the hiking trails, etc. Most of our guests have been happy to pay to ride the lift and have commented favorably on its impact on the overall experience.
