Tubing is OPEN!

Tubing is OPEN!

Hey, gang. After some re-engineering of the tubing lanes, the new Heavenly tubing hill will open Christmas Day and it will be AWESOME! As you can see in the photo of our COO Blaise Carrig at the right, we’ve now got five lanes instead of the originally-planned four, and we’ve added an additional 60 feet or so to the lanes. Like everything at Heavenly, it should be EPIC!

The weather over the Christmas holidays should be ideal for skiing and snowboarding. We got about eight inches of new snow a few days ago, and the snow is buttery and great for carving! We’re looking forward to a great holiday season, so come see us!

FYI to passholders, blackout days begin December 27 and go through December 31, so get up here and enjoy the conditions over the next couple of days!

I don’t see the tubing rates listed on the website. What are the rates and is there a discount for season pass holders?

    Thanks

  2. Russ Says:

Monika – Tubing is $30 per hour. You can find the rates here.

  3. Eileen Suffet Says:

Hi, is there a height limit for little folks? Can an adult and child go together? Would a 70 year old be safe? Thanks!

  4. Brad Says:

Are there snow play areas (tubing?) available for the under 40″ crowd?

  5. MeganH Says:

We have a sledding hill up at Adventure Peak for the little ones!

  6. Chad Says:

My kids have the Heavenly Ski Pass, does the ski pass also include the use of the tubing hill? Can’t wait for our first trip to Lake Tahoe!

    Chad

  7. MeganH Says:

Hi Chad, we looking forward to having you and your children visit Heavenly! The season pass does not cover the tubing hill, but it does allow them access to the Gondola.

  8. Jeff Says:

If you are tubing does the $30 an hour per person include the Gondola ride up? if not what is that cost to just get up to the tuing?

  9. MeganH Says:

Hi Jeff, the price for a Gondola ticket is $32. Tubing is $30/hour. If you already have a season pass, you only need to purchase the Tubing ticket at the top of the Gondola.

  10. Jeff Says:

That price is outrageous 30.00 hr. and you don’t even get a ride to the top without paying extra. so for a family of 4 that is a 120.00 an hr. and of course you need to pay to get up the hill. Get over yourself.

We’re planning to visit the weekend of feb 19-21, 2011. I have a 3 year old and 9 year old. Are there activities for little kids and can I take them up the gondola to the adventure peak?

  12. MeganH Says:

Hi Raj, The Gondola and Adventure Peak are a great place to take your family! The Gondola accesses sightseeing, with incredible views of Desolation Wilderness, Lake Tahoe, and the Carson Valley. At the top you’ll find tubing and snowbikes for your 9 year old (or ski school), and there’s a sledding hill that may be perfect for your 3 year old. Not to mention, our new Tamarack Lodge is a great place for families to recharge! See you soon!

  13. Elizabeth Says:

Do you know what the age and height restrictions for sledding and tubbing?

  14. MeganH Says:

Hi Elizabeth, yes… to go Tubing, you need to be 42 inches tall and six years old. For those under either of those requirements, we also have a little sledding hill.

  15. Steve Says:

Hi Russ. Can I go sledding with my 4-year-old? He won’t want to go by himself at first.

  16. Russ Says:

Hey, Steve. Our policy for tubing and sledding is to allow single riders only. The sledding “run” is very short and tapered, and the kids come to an easy, gradual stop. The attendants are super helpful, so maybe get one of them to stand on the flats with and push your four-year-old back and forth between you so he builds some confidence. I also find that M&Ms work wonders in terms of motivation. I can get my 2.5-year-old to break down String Theory for M&Ms.

  17. Stephanie Says:

Do i get a free tube ride for buying a season pass?

  18. Liz Says:

A tubing ticket is not included with your season pass, sorry!

  19. Joe Says:

Is there anything an 18 mo old, less than 40 inches tall toddlers can do up there?

  20. RachelRoberts Says:

Hi Joe- Kids four and under can ride the Gondola up for free and you can try out sledding. Sledding is on a much gentler slope next to the tubing hill, the only thing is that the children need to be able to ride down on the sled on their own. If you don’t think the little one is up for that yet, you can enjoy the views from up top and play in the snow. Tamarack Lodge is a nice place for lunch or a hot chocolate too!

  21. Evan Says:

I have a pass, and I wanted to bring my friends up for tubing. You’re telling me they’ll have to pay $30-60 to do that? Yeesh. Forget it. I guess we’ll stay at home :(

  22. Shelby Says:

when you pay for your hour dose that price include a tub??

  23. RachelRoberts Says:

Hi Shelby- Yes, the hour price does include a tube.

  24. Jane Says:

Your tubing prices are outrageous. I recommend tubing for $25.00 a day at Soda Springs.

  25. Stefani Victor Says:

I was just told that your sledding closes Easter weekend. Is that true? We were planning on the following weekend. Hope it will be open

  26. RachelRoberts Says:

Hi Stefani- Tubing and sledding will be available through closing day, April 15. Enjoy your trip!
