“With amazing snow, now is the time to learn to ski or snowboard or to improve your skills at one of the highly acclaimed ski and snowboard schools at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone or Heavenly,” said Rob Katz, chief executive officer of Vail Resorts. “Our New Year’s resolution is to make it possible for our guests to enjoy a lesson with our top-ranked ski and snowboard schools as part of their visit with us,” Katz said.
But, lessons aren’t just for first-timers or beginners. Even intermediate or more advanced skiers and snowboarders can learn a new technique and can polish and refine their skills on the steeps, bumps or powder. “Taking a lesson will increase your confidence, as well as your ability level, which makes a tremendous difference in your enjoyment on the slopes,” added Dee Byrne, Vail’s director of ski and snowboard school. “As your skills grow and improve, so does your smile.”
With the technological advancements in shaped skis, the addition of “rocker” in skis and snowboards, development of women’s equipment and the progression of terrain park twin tips skis and park/pipe snowboards, skiing and snowboarding has come a long way.
More and more families and friends want to spend quality time together on the slopes. A perfect way to do this is to take a private group lesson for up to six people, which provides expert coaching plus a customized, guided tour of the mountain (and no need to check trail maps!).
In addition to bragging rights about your on-mountain feats and eureka moments on skis or snowboard, there are also physical benefits of skiing and snowboarding that can improve your health and fitness, said Mike Allen, Heavenly’s director of ski and snowboard school. For instance, did you know that downhill skiing or snowboarding burns between 250 and 600 calories per hour (depending on your weight and activity level)?

Looking to put my daughter in ski school or possibly a private lesson (two planks) for one day (Tuesday 1/19/10) most likely from the Gondola area since that the lodging location. What discounts are available and what would the total cost be for a full day. Hanna is 12 years old and has skied annually since she was 5 and at Heavenly for the past 4 years.
Thanks,
Craig Hoglund
