California to Open Thursday!

Hey, gang. So the snow keeps falling, the snow guns keep firing and we keep opening more terrain. Heavenly has received TWO FEET of the light and dry over the last few days, but it’s still all about snowmaking. We’ve had incredible snowmaking temperatures associated with this storm and it looks like we’re going to have the bulk of California open by Thursday!

We expect to open California with Gunbarrel Express, the Tram, Patsy’s chair, Powderbowl Express and Canyon Express. Please note that The Face WILL NOT be open. Gunbarrel and the Tram are transportation lifts ONLY. Also, we’re working hard to get Skyline open, but that’s still up in the air. If we open Cali without Skyline, that means you can ski/ride from NV to CA, but not CA to NV. You’ll have to grab a shuttle at the Cal Lodge.

On Thursday, we’ll have full Ski and Snowboard School operations at both the Gondola and the California Lodge. This includes the DMZ, the Enchanted Forest, Day Care and possibly First Ride.

Lots of cool stuff going on! I don’t know if you guys have seen Chris’ latest video, so here it is:

As you can see, it’s light and dry! I actually haven’t gotten to ski it, but I’m going up tomorrow morning! Aimi X and I are shooting a holiday video card!

Does anyone know if there is snowmaking on the Stagecoach runs?? I am travelling to Heavenly on Dec 24 and these would be the “ski in” runs for my hotel????

I know the question has been asked 100 times but it bears repeating…. I heard a rumor that Stagecoach might be opening this weekend. Any veracity, accuracy or basis for this information?

Snowmaking was installed on Stagecoach runs this past summer. SMI fan guns, I believe.
