Opening Update – Friday, November 28 is the Day!
Happy Thanksgiving, gang. Blaise Carrig, Heavenly’s chief operating officer, is up inspecting the conditions as I write this. He just called on the radio to give the official word: We’re opening on Friday, November 28!
Lifts will open tomorrow at 8:30am. All access to skiing and snowboarding tomorrow will be through the Gondola. You’ll then ride Tamarack Express to Orion’s Run, where you’ll encounter a mile of the finest surface conditions Lake Tahoe has to offer! You’ll ride Dipper Express to lap Orion’s, and when you’re ready to head back to the Gondola, you’ll take Comet Express, take Comet Trail to Von Schmidt’s and back to the top of the Gondola. Please note that we have intermediate terrain open only.
F&B-wise, we’ll have East Peak Lodge (no outdoor BBQ), Adventure Peak Grill (including the Umbrella Bar) and Cafe Blue at the Observation Deck.
We’ll also be open for sightseeing, and the Heavenly Flyer will be open, weather permitting.
Season passes are blacked out Friday, 11/28, and Saturday, 11/29. Passholders can purchase day tickets for $20 off the window rate.
Dane will be shooting video for our opening day news release, so be sure to give him some good quotes for the Web site. Go heavy on the mashed potatoes and stuffing tonight to carbo load for tomorrow’s day on the mountain!

Oh yea!!! Can’t wait! I got worried when I saw some websites reporting you’re opening on Dec. 5.
But worry no more.

November 27th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Hey, gang. Sorry to say this, but season passes are blacked out Friday, 11/28, and Saturday, 11/29. Passholders can purchase day tickets for $20 off the window rate.
If you can wait an extra day or two, we’ve moved snowmaking onto Big Dipper and lower Comet and hope to have those runs open soon.
November 27th, 2008 at 10:22 am

November 27th, 2008 at 10:52 am

November 27th, 2008 at 11:21 am
sorry, no park opening day. we’ll get a park up as soon as we can. they are currently making snow on comet run and as soon as that has enough snow on it we’ll have a park up. stay posted..
November 27th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Where is the best place to park? Can you park in the California Lodge parking?
November 27th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
McMastes, looks like we’ll be skiing on Sunday, so let Kristina know and I’ll be heading up from Sacto town!

GREAT NEWS!!! I’ll be driving up from Montery County Fri morning hoping to get at least a half day in on Fri then full days on Sat & Sun. Bummer to hear that they will not remove the black out limits on Fri and Sat. The 2 day pass ticket is something some of you may think about if you’re not a season pass holder. It all comes out about the same (aprox $50 per day for fri and sat either way) if you’re a season pass holder with the 20 bucks savings. Either way, me and my family are there…. To bad stagecoach won’t be open so I can get my annual beer-stein. That’ll have to wait I guess. At least part of Heavenly will be open!!!
November 27th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Any estimate on when the runs will be accessible without using the Gondola (as I recall this is an extra charge)? Also, when would some beginner terrain be open? I am bringing up my beginner/intermediate kids up next week.
November 27th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
What’s the window rate for Fri and Sat? I’ll take the $20 off to make some turns !!!
November 27th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

So happy that Heavenly will be open!! Any idea when Stagecoach will be open????
November 28th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
sorry guys, we ARE trying..trust me! But the weather is warm right now (inversion) so its hard for them to make snow. So its going to be like mid week if were lucky. Pray for low temps… and be patient. Have to have snow to build a park.

Since no one seems to have answered a few of the questions that were asked: it seems the CA Lodge is open and the shuttle is running, so that’s a good place to park. No, there is not an extra fee for the gondola if you have a lift ticket. It does cost to park there, however.
November 29th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
What is the next thing to open considering snowmaking goes as planned?
November 29th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

My wife and I are staying right at the CA Lodge for a week beginning Dec 10, but it looks like for the time being, the only lift running is the Gondola in town. Does anyone have any idea when Heavenly plans to open the CA lodge? Its gonna suck if I have to bus into town after trying sooo hard to get a place near the Lifts?

I boarded at Heavenly Fri, Sat, and Sunday and must say the 2 areas open were pretty good with the exception of all the beginners that were falling hard all over and getting in the way. I guess they either couldn’t read the signs stating “No Beginners” or didn’t care. I guess they all left Sunday morning because Sunday was much better until it got really icey in the afternoon. I was boarding in a tshirt on Sunday(very warm on the hill). Thanks Heavenly for opening up!!! Already planning on going back up 2 more times this month (gotta make the pass worth the $$$).
December 1st, 2008 at 3:42 pm
You can park for free at Harrahs and walk to the Gondola.
December 2nd, 2008 at 10:16 pm

December 3rd, 2008 at 2:48 am
Good cover from the storm? Are you guys planning to make some new snow anytime this week because I’m guessing it will all ice by the time I arrive Saturday =( Chad and I will be ice ski/riding =P

hi, im going there this winter…but just for a week…25 December 2009 to 31 December 2009, but i was looking, for buying the season pass and read that the ski tracks are not gonna be able at days 27,28,29,30 and 31 of December…why is that?…im worried because my vacations are that week and i just want to go skiing… by the way, Im from Dominican Republic.
can someone tell me why is that please?
June 15th, 2009 at 8:40 am
Hi Andres,
The dates that you are concerned about are black out dates on the Heavenly Adult Season Pass. However, if you purchase your pass prior to June 21, 2009 you will receive a $20 discount on daily tickets during black out dates.
Thanks and see you in December,
Aimi X.
