Jes Ford Checks-In from Chile
¡Hola Tahoe!
This is Jes Ford checking in to tell you about my amazing summer…. I am in the middle of 6 weeks of travel through Argentina and Chile. We are trying to hit up all the major ski resorts and get as much southern hemisphere powder (”polvo”) as possible. Its definetely winter down here! We´ve had some killer days at Valle Nevado in Chile, and some mediocre but fun days at Los Penitentes (Argentina) and Portillo (Chile). Next we head to Las Lenas, then Bariloche, and eventually we are going to ride at Cerro Castor, the southernmost ski resort in the world, located on Tierra Del Fuego, the southern tip of Argentina.
Last weekend I had the honor of competing in the Chilean National Snowboarding Championships, a slopestyle at Valle Nevado. I had some solid runs and ended up getting first place for the ladies! I won a giant check for 150,000 pesos (unfortunately thats not as much in dollars!), a new snowboard I´m trying to sell, and a bunch of other random stuff. My boyfriend Luke Dale got 3rd place for the Pro Men, and my friend BJ Linne got 1st! It was a really fun and friendly contest…. though its pretty hard to figure out when your supposed to drop in when everything´s in a foreign language!
I hope everyone in Tahoe is enjoying the rest of the summer and starting to get amped up for the winter… it will be here soon! I can´t wait! See you in a few weeks!
