Snow is Falling at Heavenly!
It’s 11:20 on Friday afternoon and the snow is currently falling pretty hard here at the resort. It’s supposed to snow for the remainder of the day into this evening, and we’re expecting about six inches to accumulate. The grass outside my office is already turning white! It’s time to start thinking winter, people!

We are flying into Tahoe tomorrow morning. This is our first trip to Lake Tahoe. Will there still be snow on the ground tomorrow morning?
We’re from the South so it would really be neat to land with snow on the ground!!!

Cliff, we have planned our tahoe trip for March next year instead of Feb. Last Feb was a poor one for the ski season. Is this early snow a good sign for a great season?

We’ve skied Tahoe once before in January - fantastic. We’re looking to fly over from the UK again, but can’t make it till March….are we going to be OK? Is there usually enough good snow around then??

To all of u reading this blog and wondering if u should plan a trip to the greater lake tahoe area to go sking this winter, Id make ur reservations now. According to the NOAA(the national weather service) This years weather pattern is what they Call La Nina, La Nina brings alot of cold storms down from the tip of alska, so it all converts into below avarage temps and great powder, and if ur wondering the difference between this type of weather pattern compared to last year’s , last year weather pattern was a El Nino type, El nino typically brings alot of rain but not alot of snow because the stroms from off of hawaii making them middly warm which in return equals poor snow amounts. BUT MY ADVICE TO U, IS BOOK UR RESERVATIONS NOW CAUSE THERE NOT GOING TO LAST LONG

Jessica,Heavenly is a great place to learn how to ski. There are plenty of the beginner runs on the California side of the mountain and a few on the Nevada side. The beginner runs are a piece of cake. In addition, some of the intermediate runs (like California Way) aren’t a whole lot more difficult than the beginner runs.
That said, please remember to alway ski within your ability. Also remember that the trail ratings are relative.
With such a large number of ski resorts within a relatively small area, Lake Tahoe is sure to be the perfect ski destination. Have fun!
PS Watch the weather and check the conditions on this web site often.
BTW, I am from IL.

Not totally off on this comment ’cause a lot of Feb was a drought, but did ya miss that last week of the month with the EIGHT feet??? Epic! The early is is a good sign. I can’t wait. And yes, book your trip, Cliff. March will be good. Anytime I get to slide on snow is good!
