Team Rider Sho Reports Back From Chile
I hope you all had a great summer. Looks like it’s getting colder, maybe the snow will start falling really soon so we can all get back on the mountain! I had a pretty busy summer, lots of training! I just got back from two weeks in El Colorado, Chile with the US Ski Team. I had ten really productive days on snow. I just worked on improving my turns and cleaning up my jumps. I did a bunch of corked 1080’s (three rotations, off axis). I feel really comfortable with them, and I’ll probably be throwing a lot of those in my World Cup runs this season.
I also competed in a Big Air contest in Chile, where I took 3rd place. It was a night competition, and it was actually a little scary! There were only lights on the jump and on the landing. The landing was made out of scaffolding, and it was only covered with a few inches of snow. So basically, skiing into the jump was completely dark, and you couldn’t see the landing until you hit the takeoff. We really had to trust our sense of speed going into the jump, or else we’d come up short. I like scaring myself a little bit from time-to-time, it keeps the sport fun.
Anyways, now I’m back in Park City. I’m a full-time student at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and I’m working at the Home Depot. I’m still finding some time to lift weights and water ramp. I’ve actually been working on a new trick. It’s a double loop (side flip, twice) Freeride skiers know it as a Kangaroo Flip, except I won’t be landing backwards because I’ll be landing in the moguls trying to make turns right after I land. It’s not a legal trick yet, but I’m hoping to throw some on snow this fall, and hopefully make it legal in the next couple years and progress the sport even more.
Enjoy the rest of the fall, get your hours in at work so you can “call in sick” on powder days and not feel too guilty!
PS-
“Double Loop” is a pretty boring name huh? If anyone has any suggestions for a new name for the trick, any feedback is appreciated!
Sho Kashima is a Heavenly High Roller Team skier who grew up in Lake Tahoe and is quickly rising as one of the top mogul skiers on the US Ski Team. Watch for Sho in the 2010 Olympics.

I can’t imaging a sports commentator saying “…and there goes Sho with the ding dong icing flip.”
Ok maybe – but not really.
Here are a few ideas for the “other” category Sho:
1) Johnny Who? Flip
2) Maytag Flip
3) Illegal Flip

I think you should call one of these:
1.) Coiler Flip
2.) Sho-Time Flip
3.) The Brother Of Yamato Flip
4.) The Brother’s Friend’s, Marshall, Flip
5.) Wow Look At The “Sho” Flip
6.) The Donger
Yeah, These Are Really Good Names. I Suggest you chose one of ours. Jere Made up the first one! Have fun chosing

I think collar flip is pretty original, and illegal flip sounds dope.

I like the ones with dong just because it has commentators shouting out a word for men’s anatomy
But i’d go with “Sho-Time Corkscrew”
