Johnny Tahoe’s Top 5 Aprés Spots
Johnny Tahoe here, checking in to give you my Top 5 picks for the best aprés spots around the South Shore:
1. The Summit
The Summit Restaurant is where you will find premier fine dining at Harrah’s Casino Lake Tahoe. Located on the 16th floor across from Cliché, Maitre ‘d William Santos heads the restaurant with Jason Carlisle as head chef. Hit the Chilled Poached Tiger Shrimp as an appetizer and the Elk Chop that’s oven roasted with rum spiked acorn squash. After dinner head over to Cliché for a cognac and your favorite cigar. Bartender Mike Chandler recommends a fine hand rolled Cuban and Hennessey and relax in a cozy lounger in the humidor.
2. Cabo Wabo
Come to Cabo for great nightlife and a guaranteed good time! There’s always something to see at Cabo. Show up for cool drink specials and live music or check out some of the Art pieces Sammy Hagar’s son Aaron has to offer. Aaron has paintings of Sammy based on photographs and other cool characters along with the Cabo Wabo tequila in the boutique. Who knows, Aaron just might get up and belt out one of his dad’s famous tunes for ya…
3. Party with Arty
No one can resist the fun beats and bead throwing antics when you party with Arty at the backstage bar. It’s usually the spot where you’ll find bachlorettes, so be prepared to show off your best moves as Arty the one-man party sings to the sounds while playing the keyboard.
4. 19 Kitchen Bar
Start out at the 19 Kitchen Bar Ultra Lounge where you can chill on ultra modern sofas in dark corners, enjoy fantastic lake views, listen to acid jazz, watch smooth videos and share some of the freshest appetizers like Lobster Mash Potatoes or Chicken Caeser Flat Bread. Try the Kobe beef and be blown away! Bartender Christie Griffin suggests a Currant Cosmo to go with the stellar vistas 19 Bar affords.
5. Hard Rock Café
The HRC boasts tasty dishes like the “Joe Perry Rock Your World Quesadilla”. My favorite at HRC is the baby back ribs! This Thursday night the Gin Blossoms are playing at the Hard Rock Café. This is a benefit concert to help the Lake Tahoe Animal Shelter. Ten-dollar donations will be taken at the door. The show starts at 10pm.
