HEAVENLY HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL SESSIONS LUMBERJACK LOG JAM
Event Features “New School” Skiers and Snowboarders Competing on “Old School” Features
Heavenly Mountain Resort, Lake Tahoe, Calif. /Nev. – March 21, 2007 –Heavenly Mountain Resort announced today that it will host the 2nd annual Lumberjack Log Jam competition Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 10:00am to 2:30pm at the resort’s Nightlife Terrain Park located at the California Lodge base area. Sponsored by Sessions, the event will be open exclusively to “team amateurs” – the young rippers with product sponsorship, but not being paid to ride for a particular team – and will take jibbing back to its roots by offering new-school park obstacles disguised by turn-of-the-century elements.
“The course and the atmosphere will remind competitors and spectators why they began snowboarding and skiing in the first place…it’s fun,” said Joel Gomez, Sessions founder and CEO. The amateur competitors will also have the opportunity to get incredible exposure within the industry with appearances on Fuel TV and a feature article in Future Snowboarding magazine. Other prizes and perks include a Pisterpro mini-bike, Sessions apparel, Electric eyewear, Scullcandy Headphones, Gore-Tex products, Ogio bags, Kicker speakers, and tons of gear to help further the athletes’ progression towards a career in professional skiing or snowboarding.
Continuing with last years “Controlled Jam” format, the field will be limited to 40 skiers and 40 snowboarders with no category distinction between men and women or ages. Judging will be done by six Sessions Pro Team members and will be based on overall impression. Top awards will be given to the top three skiers, top three snowboarders, best overall trick and best overall performance by a female.
Jibs, jumps and rails will be medium in size, including a log-themed feature centered on the course. Registration will be held at the California Lodge near the Higher Grounds coffee stop on Friday, March 23 from 1:00 to 4:00pm, cost of entry is $25, plus lift ticket fees. On-site registration will be held during practice that evening from 4:30 to 9:00pm at the Nightlife Terrain Park at the base of World Cup, as well as the next morning 9:00 to 10:00am if space is still available.
