Heavenly’s Own Johnny Tahoe Weighs in on Super Bowl Weekend
SUPERBOWL WEEKEND IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE
So the Superbowl is almost upon us and it’s time to think about your pre-game plan before the big game starts. Begin with a jaunt to Heavenly to get into that Superbowl vibe. Speaking of bowls, Powder Bowl Park is set up with over 12 boxes and rails just waiting for you to hit’em up! Powder Bowl Park has three medium sized tabletops to launch from so you can showcase that mad style you been working on. Finish off your run through the park with a fully leaned power slide on our famous wall ride as you exit. We also have High Roller and Groove Parks open so you can boost air for whatever level you ride or ski at.
FRIDAY NIGHT
If you’re looking to possibly winning some cool Heavenly swag, come to the Heavenly Fish Taco Fridays at Riva Grill. The Heavenly girls will be raffling off prizes as you wolf down $3 tacos and their famous wet woodies. Believe me, after enough fish tacos and rum you’ll all be claiming to have seen Mark Twain manning the MS Dixie paddle wheeler down at the dock.
After that ball has dropped like a Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo place kick, pile into your favorite yellow cab and make your way to the casino core where the real fun starts. Center Stage at Harrah’s with Arthur Hervey’s one-man band. This is where you pregame and throw down your favorite moves from Dance Dance Revolution that you learned in my previous newsletter. Please all electric slide aficionados to the side of the dance floor. The electric slide is as tired as a one arm bandit at the slot machine who just ran out of pennies and oxygen. After you’ve boogied down with Arthur, finish the night off at Vex nightclub where you can (for a price) chill in your own booth and be dialed in with drinks all night. Friday night is ladies night at Vex. The atmosphere will dazzle you and the spirits will keep flowing into early morning hours. The doors open at 10pm. Don’t forget to set up a wake up call so you don’t miss the corduroy in the morning on the mountain. Check out our morning show “Another Heavenly Morning” on Tahoe TV 12 to get the latest information on mountain conditions, grooming and lift operations.
SATURDAY NIGHT
Start out at one of the best restaurants in town, Friday Station. Located on the top floor at Harrah’s Casino, Friday’s Station offers stunning sunset views, award winning steak and seafood entrees and their expansive thousand-bottle wine cellar. For drinks at the bar hit up legendary mixologist Mike Epstein for his pick of the day. Mike’s favorite entrée is the crab bisque followed up with the rack of lamb and a bottle of Coppolla Cabernet Sauvignon.
Next you should head over to BLU nightclub inside of Montbleu Casino. DJ Frankie V will be spinning out the mixes to keep you roll’in through the night. The VIP booths are spacious plush leather beds with gold beads and awesome bottle service. Check out the blue bouncy ball chairs and airbrush body painting near the back bar.
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY NIGHT
After the game is over and the Colts have finally won the Superbowl, head to Cabo Wabo for a heavy dose of celebration, live music and cool drinks specials. Sunday night is Brazilian night with DJ Chris English. Bartenders’ Mike, Joey and Kimberly will be dishing out $2 Coronas, Blanco and Jager shots as well as $3 Vodka Red bulls at the main bar. At the outside bar you’ll have bartenders Jennifer and Ashley dancing on the bar from time to time and giving body shots while Chris keeps you flowing with drinks all night long. You want to get there early, as this place will be packed solid with a few hundred Brazilians! The party starts at 9:30pm. What ever play call you make this Superbowl weekend, make sure you’re having fun on and off the mountain.
